The Obama administration was ill-prepared to handle and failed to respond effectively to Russian interference during the 2016 election, according to a bipartisan congressional report released Thursday. It noted officials feared getting caught up in a heavily politicized environment and undermining public confidence in the electoral process.
The Senate Intelligence Committees report said the U.S. government was not well-postured to counter Russian election interference, adding Russias cyberactivities did not cease despite high-level warnings of potential retaliation.
Sen. Richard Burr, who chairs the Senate Intelligence Committee, said the report found the Obama administration in 2016 struggled to determine an appropriate response as it became aware of Russian activities.
Frozen by paralysis of analysis, hamstrung by constraints both real and perceived, Obama officials debated courses of action without truly taking one, said Burr, a North Carolina Republican, noting many of their concerns were valid. However, Obama officials made decisions that limited their options, including preventing internal information-sharing and siloing cyber and geopolitical threats.
The committee noted most Obama administration officials interviewed in the investigation said they had first learned about the Russian operation to steal emails from the Democratic National Committee from the media. The initial reaction of administration officials and members of the intelligence community was that Russias activity fell within the bounds of traditional espionage and was not understood at that point to be part of a broader campaign, according to the report.
Five GOP senators on the panel wrote in an addendum that the report exposes in great detail the Obama administrations inept response to Russias persistent and complex campaign to influence and interfere in the most recent U.S. presidential election. They wrote that concerns about undermining confidence in the election do not excuse the administrations failures.

They weren’t hamstrung.
They allowed it because the interference was intended to help Felonia Von Pantsuit
Hamstrung? They were a part of it.
Let me guess, Mitch sign on to this too.

That’s what happens when you put incompetent b**** in charge. The presidency is no place for on the job training.
Didn’t Obama SWEAR that there was NO RUSSIAN INTERFERENCE...are they saying he lied to us?
Those $100K in Facebook advertisement buys were indeed a crisis beyond all imagination.
Not mr. “fundamental transformation” again. Frederich Engels used that exact phrase on p.48 of the Communist Manifesto...

Some Russian people ran some Facebook Adds. There was nothing for any authority to do. These guys are in on the cover up.
...they first learned THE LIE about Russian interference from the media.... There. Fixed it. Remember the download speeds? They werent hacked they were pilfered. And not by Russians.
BS. I don’t believe the Russian story. The only Russians involved in the election were paid by Clinton and the DNC.
Can we get the FBI to Waterboard Bloomberg the crap he’s pulling?
In the Mueller Report it said the FBI determined the DNC was hacked by Russians.
Pretty impressive seeing as how they never got to inspect the computers or servers
“Felonia Von Pantsuit”
BWHAHAHAHAH!!!!
I thought Mueller couldn’t find any Russian interference, after searching for two and a half years?
Every freeper knows that is bullshit. If they dont they should. Those files were walked out on a thumb drive. No other way. The people claiming otherwise are lying or incompetent (Thank you God). They were walked out, very likely by Seth Rich and also very likely he was murdered for it.
digger48 did not give the full name, which is “Felonia Milhous Von Pantsuit.”
What Russia election attack?
Did the Spetnatz overrun Point Barrow and nobody noticed?
Coverup!!!!!!!!!!!
