Mitt Romney explained his vote to convict President Trump in a note to his Republican colleagues, hand-signed “Mitt” in blue ink and delivered Wednesday to their individual boxes in the Senate cloakroom.
Why it matters: The Utah senator and 2012 presidential nominee was the only Republican to go against Trump during impeachment. His notes reflect how much pressure he'll be under to justify himself to a party that's pledged loyalty ahead of Trump's re-election bid.

The upside of all this is that Mitt Romney never fails to remind people — Republicans, Democrats, and independents alike — why they despised most of the @ssholes the GOP had been putting up as presidential candidates for years.
Since Romney worships the father of Lies, nothing he says is going to be the truth. He speaks lies because he is a liar.
If he wanted to tell the truth he could just say he wanted the attention of being the only GOP senator to vote for conviction, I like doing interviews at the MSNs and I have 4 1/2 years before I have to run again and the people of Utah will have forgotten by then.

Has a single GOP Senator called for Romney to be “censured>” Nope. Recall how quick the GOP Senate was to attack and undermine POTUS on the border, Sessions, etc. Nothing of the sort here for Romney because the GOP Senators privately agree with him and wish they could have voted that way.

Nobody even remotely proved Trump corrupted the any election.
In a single move Romney has just become the “go to”, “reasonable” republican.
He will for the foreseeable future be “the”sole go to republican on CNN./ MSNBC/ MSM NYT, etc they will quote and put on.
“The BRAVE lone senator to Vote AGAINST Trump!” he has just made a huge money making career of being a political pundit.
And being the star of every cocktail party with the Pople that “really matter”.
Read Alexander’s letter regarding his impeachment vote. The Senate GOP all agree with Romney. If they didn’t they would speak out about a fellow GOP Senator voting to REMOVE a GOP POTUS.
