Romney says he had to follow 'conscience' on vote to convict Trump, expects ‘enormous consequences’

Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, told Fox News' Chris Wallace Wednesday in an exclusive interview that he "had to follow my conscience" in deciding to vote to convict President Trump on abuse of power, a decision that's likely to lead to serious blowback from Trump and others in the Republican Party.

"I believe that the act he took, an effort to corrupt an election is as destructive an attack on the oath of office and our Constitution as I can imagine," Romney said. "It is a high crime and misdemeanor within the meaning of the Constitution, and that is not a decision I take lightly. It is the last decision I want to take."

And the GOP needs to boot his niece out of charge of the national committee.

I know there are some, a few, on this forum who love Rona but then once upon a time we loved John McCain, the Mitt Romney, even oncit George Dubya.

Let’s not be fooled again. She says the right things but then people who fool know how to do it well.

Why not appoint someone else just to be safe?

Yep, they are very good people by worldly standards, but very lost nonetheless with regards to a false gospel.

In fact she did.

During an interview yesterday she said, as I paraphrase “Mitt and I don’t always agree. We’ve disagreed in the past and we disagree. President Trump is doing a great job and it’s great how the senate voted.”

This past Sunday she was interviewed on Meet the Press. The interviewer asked about her Uncle and she launched immediately into a litany of how wonderful President Trump was and how he needs to stay in office. She effectively changed the subject from Uncle Mitt.

This did not elude the interviewer, who responded “Ok, we understand you won’t want to discuss your Uncle.”

Ronna said nothing after that, neither denying or affirming.

Lookit, we Republicans/Conservatives....we’re nice people. I get so many responses that Ronna is doing a wonderful job, let’s not do anything haste.

That’s the problem. She is a close relative of Mitt Romney, the man who declared the President guilty although he knew, the lying skunk, that Trump did nothing wrong.

Ronna’s way to avoiding commentary is to immediately go into a praise parade of President Trump. Who could find anything wrong with that?

So why doesn’t she just tell us about Uncle Mitt’s stupidity?

Or we end up as we did, once loving Mccain, then loving Romney, George Dubya.....

I predict Ronna will someday openly betray then we’ll all be on a Freep thread lamenting how we once liked her and though she did a great job.

What would be wrong with telling her that she is going to be replaced due the conflict of interest?

We can’t find anyone else to do that job?

Sorry, the interview I refer to above was on Face the Nation.

Ask Ronna anything about Uncle Mitt and she’ll launch into a praise rant about President Trump.

It’s a great tactic.

Fools a lot of people on FreeRepublic.

And you have been 100% right. I tried to tell people 2 years ago there was only one reason Minion was running for Senate: to screw Trump.

I’d like to see someone like Brad Parscale or Stephen Miller take over her spot. Another one I don’t trust on the inside is Kelly Ann Conway being married to that Trump hater.

Well now that you mention Kelly Ann Conway and that asshole she’s married to....I agree with you completely.

Oh yes I like Kelly Ann but how do we know she and husband aren’t making money on the side by payment to the asshole for all his public nastiness of Trump.

Now the “nice” people come out and protest. “Kelly Ann would never do that?”

Did anyone ever think Mittens would vote to remove a GOP President Trump from office.

I think Kelly Ann ought to be thrown outta there. Suppose everyone who is a spokesnoid for the President had a spouse, cousin, sister, Uncle or other relative who took advantage of their relative’s position to trash the President?

I’m telling you, us Conservatives have to be reaiistic. Throw them out enough times and it will stop.

Top Romney Adviser Worked With Hunter Biden On Board Of Ukrainian Energy Company:

The timelines would indicate that Black and Biden worked together at Burisma!

Romney is an enemy combatant. Those senate votes were not about _political_ parties, they were about LAW. Constitutional LAW. DC and Romney are enemies of the LAW.

Let me get this straight. He gave a little whistle, and a cricket with a top hat and an umbrella told him to vote “guilty”. Is he a real boy now?

“Enormous consequences” - Heh, methinks that Mittens has a *somewhat* over-inflated sense of his own importance.

He will just be ignored. He’s become a historical footnote. And not a good one. One that sticks out like a sore thumb.
