Washington (CNN)Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer will seize the national spotlight Tuesday evening when she delivers one of the Democratic Party's responses to the President's State of the Union address, drawing attention to a state her party is hoping to win back from Donald Trump this November.
Party leaders announced last month that Whitmer will give the response to Trump's address in English while Democratic Rep. Veronica Escobar of Texas will deliver the response in Spanish. Traditionally, the speech is considered a coveted opportunity that allows rising party officials to voice their opposition to a presidency to a national audience. Previous speakers have included future presidents and prominent lawmakers.

Two years ago the Golden Goddess of Georgia did it. She went on to great success by losing the Governors race by a razor thin 54,000 votes yet still declaring herself the winner.

The rats have perfected putting high Dem turnout ballot initiatives on the November ballots. In Mi there were four on the 18 ballot. As a result they flipped the Governor, AG and SOS. The GOP SOS could have made sure they made it to the August primary election but the GOP does not seem to know they are at war.
