It's not a good morning for Iowa Democrats. They are trying to do damage control the morning after one of the most disastrous election nights in recent memory. Hours after the Hawkeye State voting ended, and there are still no results. The only thing we do know, is that the Democrats really bungled this process.
In in their new statement Tuesday morning, the party tried to give some kind of an explanation as to what the bleep happened. It was not any kind of cyber intrusion, they admit. It was purely technical incompetence.
NEW statement from @iowademocrats -- "While the app was recording data accurately, it was reporting out only partial data. We have determined that this was due to a coding issue in the reporting system." pic.twitter.com/kOXdcvggoe Maura Barrett (@MauraBarrettNBC) February 4, 2020
"As part of our investigation, we determined with certainty that the underlying data collected via the app was sound," the statement reads. "While the app was recording data accurately, it was reporting out only partial data. We have determined that this was due to a coding issue in the reporting system. This issue was identified and fixed. The application's reporting issue did not impact the ability of precinct chairs to report data accurately."
The Democrats assure voters that they "have been able to verify that the data recorded in the app and used to calculate State Delegate Equivalents is valid and accurate."
However, at the end of the note they write that while their plan is to release results today, they leave some wiggle room in case that doesn't actually happen.
"While our plan is to release results as soon as possible today, our ultimate goal is to ensure that the integrity and accuracy of the process continues to be upheld."
The app that was supposed to help the Iowa Democratic Party quickly report Monday’s caucus results but contributed to confusion and a muddled result as campaigns were in an uproar is linked to Hillary Clinton campaign veterans
“It’s not a good morning for Iowa Democrats.”

What we really know (by implication) is that Bernie won big so the Democrap party heads had to make sure that didn’t get out to the media.
What happened was Biden got creamed, and they are covering for him.
80 percent of bernie’s voters won’t vote for Buttf..., mini me or the groper.
They see the cover up of MASSIVE proportions and will stay home.
This is TWICE ow
Well they will come out to burn down the dem convention.
good
so all the votes went to Hillary ,LOL
Translation: Hunter Biden is stuck in traffic with some results in the trunk of his car.
The real goal is to not have Bernie win.
Nothing went wrong. The Dems didn’t like the way the true vote went. They are dishonest. They fixed the result to reflect what they wanted.
If actual total is for Bernie, compute reported total = actual total times .8
If actual total is for Biden, compute repoted total = actual total x 1.2
They just needed to add that before they released the final tally.
I guess the Democrats need to learn to code.
Its not a good morning for Iowa Democrats.
And we’re still not buying it. :-p
Wouldn't this be a normal part of testing? It was for the 30 years I wrote code!
Most software failures (and hacks) come from live data differing from expected (test) data which is probably what happened here, Ha-Ha.
Now, I'm vehemently against the socialism Sanders represents, but the Democrat voters have the right to vote for who they wish.
"I ran out of gas. I... I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake. A terrible flood. Locusts! IT WASN'T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO GOD!"
