OMG, we're all going to die. 24 feet????? Get real.
Why even bother to link to a CNN article?
Really.
Truth is not their friend.
And science is most definitely NOT their friend.
I don’t buy the math at all. The volume of the glaciers is less than water. Unless the glaciers cover the earth there is no way enough melted water to increase the sea level by 24 feet. It’s BS.
Let me be the first to ask...
How the Hell does a continental ice sheet, that sits over LAND, get warm ocean currents under it?
The Greenland ice cap is over land, not ocean. Very little sticks out into the water. Mostly the coast of Greenland is just barren, rocky peninsulas and fjords.
Too late, Denmark should have sold when they had the chance.
When floating ice melts, the height of the water level decreases, not increases.
Augh!
Underneath the Greenland ice cap is land, or so I’ve always heard. If this is true, then how can ocean water be flowing under the Greenland ice cap to melt it?
'Stopped reading right there' alert!!!
Sea levels over the entire world raised by 24 feet? That is so absurd that it really doesn’t even deserve a response.
What this tells us is the utter corrupt desperation of the climate looks.
Except that satellite data says that the interior is accumulating snow/ice at a faster rate than the melting resulting in a net gain of ice. I guess we will have to wait for the sea level rise.
The first two sentences were totally false.
If all the ice in the world melted, the oceans levels would barely wiggle.
To counter this they now tell us the glaciers are melting from the bottom-up.
Ice floats on water.
Ice is just water, expanded and frozen.
The ice’s mass is already taken into account with the sea level - if you put ice cubes in a cup, freeze it, then thaw it out, does the water rise? No, it does not.
If all the ice on Earth, including the cubes in your fridge, melted sea level would only rise by 4 FOUR feet. Story is FUD
