Scientists have long known that higher air temperatures are contributing to the surface melting on Greenland's ice sheet.
But a new study has found another threat that has begun attacking the ice from below: Warm ocean water moving underneath the vast glaciers is causing them to melt even more quickly......
This ice sheet holds enough water to raise global sea levels by more than 24 feet.

LMFAO!!
Sea levels over the entire world raised by 24 feet? That is so absurd that it really doesn’t even deserve a response.
What this tells us is the utter corrupt desperation of the climate looks.
Actually your math is pretty close:
It extends 1,570 miles (2,530 km) north-south, has a maximum width of 680 miles (1,094 km) near its northern margin, and has an average thickness of about 5,000 feet (1,500 m).https://www.britannica.com/place/Greenland-Ice-Sheet
As to those pointing out that melting floating ice doesn't raise the sea level, that's correct. However, this ice is on land.
Personally, I see no reason for alarm for a variety of reasons, but Greenland does have a lot of ice!
Yeah, I’m at 25 feet so I’ll soon have beachfront!
Except that satellite data says that the interior is accumulating snow/ice at a faster rate than the melting resulting in a net gain of ice. I guess we will have to wait for the sea level rise.
The first two sentences were totally false.
If all the ice in the world melted, the oceans levels would barely wiggle.
Does this mean we are all going to die this afternoon? Just askin’ for a friend...
To counter this they now tell us the glaciers are melting from the bottom-up.
A friend who has a friend, who is a scientist or maybe he is into scientology...Anyhow, we have 4-10 years to exist ...not sure if that is just the white race..or includes everyone?
So, book your dream vacation very soon.
Ice floats on water.
Ice is just water, expanded and frozen.
The ice’s mass is already taken into account with the sea level - if you put ice cubes in a cup, freeze it, then thaw it out, does the water rise? No, it does not.
If all the ice on Earth, including the cubes in your fridge, melted sea level would only rise by 4 FOUR feet. Story is FUD
I’m just puzzled as to how a warm ocean current gets under all that rock.
“If all the ice on Earth, including the cubes in your fridge, melted sea level would only rise by 4 FOUR feet. Story is FUD”
24 feet is about right for Greenland. If the Antarctic ice sheet melted entirely (it is ALSO on land) it’d result in about 200 feet on its own.
Many of the comments on this thread clearly illustrate the sad state of education and critical thinking in America today.
Let’s hope for a better future! :-)
That is wrong - it has been a 4 foot worldwide sea rise for over a century - perhaps Greenland suddenly acquired vast amounts of comet ice?
Or maybe it the new math?
