I suspect that they started admitting perverts and girls when the organization was clearly dying off; in my area (northeastern NJ) there is little enthusiasm for scouting, yet old troops have a lot of land.
This is a the result of demographics; the “replacement Americans” are very leery about sending their children overnight with unrelated adults - and most of the Americans themselves have no children to send.
They came to a fork in the road and chose the wrong one. It led to a dead end. Good. Natural and logical consequences.

I agree. In hindsight, I believe that one of my scoutmasters in the 70s was a homosexual, probably a pedo. Fortunately for me, he only favored the boys who didn’t have fathers or older brothers.

It didn’t so much have Christian roots as much as it had American, or Western Civilization, roots, which was decidedly Christian INCIDENTALLY.

When the Mormons completed their exodus from the organization, there simply were not enough members remaining to support the extensive Boy Scout infrastructure in those areas.
I heard Mormons were somewhere around 20% of their membership nationwide. In those areas, it was closer to 75%. Quite a price to pay to please the 2% of the population (or less) which is Sodomite. And that is just one sect with a lot of data to support what happened.
