Father, I know that my prayers are simple. I’ve always admired those who speak beautiful words that I know must surely please you. I’ve tried, I almost hear you laugh when I try, so I will just ask in a plain and simple way.
Please heal Rush.
One of the Scriptures that I had a hard time with is the miracle with the Canaanite woman who approached and repeatedly asked Jesus to heal her daughter. At first He refused, then finally granted her prayer.
I asked myself what this means. Does it mean you can nag God into doing stuff He didn’t intend to do? Surely not.
I now think it illustrates that perseverance is a virtue in and of itself. Of course, there are other interpretations that are probably correct, but I think this is part of it.
Sometimes God heals; sometimes He does not. How and why He decides, I haven’t the foggiest notion, but perseverance in prayer seems to please Him.
Eternal Father, we offer You the Holy Face of Jesus, covered with blood, sweat, dust and spittle, in reparation for the crimes of communists, blasphemers, and for the profaners of the Holy Name and of the Holy Day. Amen.
