AND NOW... amidst billowing clouds of fragrant, aromatic first- and second-hand premium cigar smoke... it is time for... that harmless, lovable little fuzz ball, the highly-trained broadcast specialist, having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have, from behind the golden EIB microphone, firmly ensconced in the prestigious Attila-The-Hun chair at the Limbaugh Institute of Advanced Conservative Studies
I'm absolutely blown away by this horrible news as well, FRiend. Rush feels like a member of my family. Been listening to him since 1991. He is constantly in my prayers now...
From what other FReepers told me, Rush had a 3-pack a day habit of smoking cigarettes since he was about 16 (yikes, if true). He did give up cigarettes at some point (I don't know when). However, he pretty much replaced the cigarettes with cigars.
Outstanding photo, LonePalm! And his wife Kathryn’s lovely face is smiling up at Rush as he receives the Presidential Medal of Freedom. :-)
Hilarious!
How are you, my friend?

No Rush today.
Prayers for Rush!!!
Hi all...
THE MONOLOGUE about Mitt Romney was excellent!
I’ve been thinking about the guest hosts that Rush has had. Mark Steyn is excellent! But let us not forget about that other great host, TONY SNOW!
I love the way President Trump handled giving the medal to Rush. He forced most of the Democrats to attend that way. I am certain Rush noticed this as well.
Todd and his callers talk *constantly* about the tolls.
The democRATs will probably win this battle (as usual), IMO. Connecticut is a freakin' dumpster fire. There are a lot of hard-working good-hearted conservatives trying to stop Governor Lamont and the democRAT majority, but I think it's futile. We're completely outnumbered by 'RATs.
Hubby and I got involved in state politics back in 2010, and it was a complete waste of our time -- and waste of a lot of money. We met some nice CT residents along the way, but we'll never get involved here again. It's nose to the grindstone now, and then get the hell out of this state.
There's an even better (in my opinion) "late morning" show on WTIC, The Will Marotti Show. 'Pastor Will' also talks about the tolls -- and about the thousands of people who have left, or are leaving Connecticut -- just about every day. Hubby and I hope to be among them at some point soon.
Here's the daily lineup at WTIC 1080. The 9 am - 12 noon show hasn't been updated. It's now The Will Marotti Show. (See story below)
Jim Vicevich Retires From Late Mornings At WTIC As Will Marotti Returns
Jim Vicevich was fabulous, but sadly a severe form of Lupus took its toll on him. The good news is he is still alive, and has been feeling better... but he can't endure the rigors of a daily radio talk show. He said recently he's doing podcasts. I haven't had time to check out his podcasts yet.
Mega dittos to that, MM! Mega PRAYERS for Rush! Every day...
In 2007 Todd filled in for Howie during a contract squabble.
Thank you for that reminder, FRiend. I never think of WPOP 1410 because it really doesn't come in very good at our house (if at all). We get WHYN 560 AM out of Springfield, Massachusetts loud and clear.
Todd Feinburg filled in for Howie in 2007? Interesting, I didn't know that.
Hi—yes, the WPOP signal may not
be the best for all.
In 2007 Howie attempted to jump
to WTKK 96.9 in Boston as his
Entercom contract was expiring.
His Boston station WRKO was owned by
Entercom.So Entercom tried to keep
Howie against his will citing contract
language. It was ruled he had to stay.
Had he been able to jump, he would have gone to morning drive. As this was going on, Entercom had Todd Feinburg fill in for him for several weeks or months.
Finally in 2014 Howie got ownership of
the show.WRKO didn’t want him so Howie’s Boston station was WMEX 1510 and WRKO put on Mike Siegel. 5 months later WRKO took Howie back as its
ratings suffered.
As of now iHeart owns WRKO (and WPOP).
The Boston FM talk station Howie tried to go to is now R&B music.
