That is a strategy. The Schiff case is so weak that it takes a lot less time to defend against it than it does to defend it.
Each party gets two hours. Why should the Trump Team fill the empty time and drag this farce out any longer? The Dems will fill their two hours, but repeating the same lines over and over again will not affect the result. Everyone knows that Trump will be acquitted with every Rep voting to acquit including Collins and Romney. For the Trump Team less is better than more.
