Footage of government officials in Wuhan appearing to take face masks intended for health workers battling the highly infectious coronavirus has fuelled a growing wave of anger over how Chinese authorities have handled the outbreak.
Images of medical staff making protective equipment out of rubbish bags, sleeping in hospitals, and crying in frustration and exhaustion have dominated Chinese social media over the last two weeks, inspiring an outpouring of sympathy and donations of supplies.

Just posting this, for you to decide.
The article showed up right on the first page, when I signed on today.
May or may not, be true.
Didn’t Obama say he wished America was more like China?
Government officials screwing over the common folk in order to benefit themselves? No way! /s
I wouldn’t doubt that this may have happened, if there are a shortage of masks.
Here is an article from the South China Morning Post, apparently the mask distribution responsibility has now been reassigned.
If I am reading that right. Things are happening quickly, of all that is true.
Again, I don’t know that, for a fact.
I do know the ownership of the SCMP is, I believe, close enough to Beijing, to put some credence in this particular side of this story.
Oh, sorry, that did not include the link:
Just a little more Socialism and all will be better.
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
Equal germ spreading between the masses
I think that all the democrat candidates should show they are tough by flying to Wuhan and walking through the hospitals without a mask on.
I agree. They should prove to the children they (democrats) deserve to murder the children
In fact, people trying to send masks to relatives in China from overseas, find that the postal service and customs service are grabbing the masks for themselves...
Equal opportunity germ spreading. Its for the children
The worst ten years ago was Thomas Friedman of the NYT gushing about how great China was because they got things done.
“...extolled China’s “one-party autocracy,” which, he told us, “is led by a reasonably enlightened group of people.””
“...what if we could just be China for a day? I mean, just, just, just one day. You know, I mean, where we could actually, you know, authorize the right solutions, and I do think there is a sense of that, on, on everything from the economy to environment. I don’t want to be China for a second, OK, I want my democracy to work with the same authority, focus and stick-to-itiveness. But right now we have a system that can only produce suboptimal solutions.”
“...Footage of government officials in Wuhan appearing to take face masks intended for health workers ...”
“government officials” = Apparatchik-speak for “Communist Party Officials”.
Because their lives are special, after all... and the rest of the lumpen proletariat can go pound sand.
It’s shocking - that the Guardian would run a story showing the Communists in a bad light.
“I do know the ownership of the SCMP is, I believe, close enough to Beijing, to put some credence in this particular side of this story.”
I don’t know either, but they are based in Hong Kong and go way back, long before China ‘liberated’ Hong Kong from the British. From what I can tell, they seem to be fairly independent - considering that state-run TV in China is now in full Communist mode, with health workers (or more likely actors) literally SINGING the praises of how their great government is solving the problem.
I think they were purchased by Alibaba a while ago.
Jack Ma is the biggest shareholder.
I think.
I used to subscribe to the paper, but that was a long time ago.
This is exactly why President Sanders doesnt worry about totally tanking the US economy, hell always get his.
