These guys may be spot on, but I have a nagging suspicion that this guy still has more gravitas than anyone else running.
Sure he makes gaffs and can’t keep his hands to himself. His hands are competing with a pretty massive “horn-dog” fella in Bill Clinton, and the media kept that clamped down. They’ll spin for Joe.

I tend to agree. Everybody says “Biden is finished”, but he’s led the rest of the pack for a very long time.
I think it comes down to two factors: “household name” and “regular fella”.
Your average Dem voter West of the Rockies never heard of any of these clowns except Biden and Bernie.
But Biden has a piece of the Obama legacy. To us it’s a negative legacy, but to the Dems it was a winner and so Biden rides Zero’s coattails as it were. And is name recognition is relatively high.
And I agree about the “gravitas” issue. Biden’s a regular fella whose reputation is “talking straight” and on an equal footing with the voter.
Sure, Biden lies like there’s no tomorrow, but to the Dem base, Biden is authentic and real.
Bernie has always been a communist weirdo except to his radical base. And he loses big on the “regular fella” score. Nobody can relate to Bernie. He’s not somebody you could have a beer with. He’s always unhinged and always crazy.
Biden is the “safe” choice for the Dems.
