Extended chain of human-to-human spread seen in Germany

The case of a German adult who acquired novel coronavirus infection locally in Munich from a Chinese who hails from Shanghai is the second reported case of a person human-to-human transmission the incubation period...It also reports the first known case of fourth-generation transmission (assuming that the infection was transmitted to the Chinese lady by a close contact) of the novel virus outside China...Even more sobering is the fact that persons recovering from illness can have huge viral load. This raises “concern about prolonged shedding of the virus even after recovery,” writes Dr. Camilla Rothe, who is the first and corresponding author from University Hospital LMU Munich, Munich, Germany.

“He’s in a “medically good state” according to the authorities. Most likely they will keep him because they aren’t sure about virus shedding after recovery.”

Thanks, but still nothing to take lightly!

BERLIN (Reuters) - A new coronavirus that is spreading around the world has been confirmed in a child in Germany, the southern state of Bavaria said on Friday, bringing the total number of known cases in Germany to six.

The new case is a child of an employee at the same firm where four more individuals in the Munich area were infected, the state health ministry said in a statement.

All affected persons are in stable condition, the ministry said

You are absolutely right, nothing to take lightly! Seems to spread readily. But we don't know the actual mortality. Could be 2-3% Could be higher. Could be lower using the best case CDC ranges, which result in 1% (10 times higher than the flu).

If it spreads like the flu with 10x worse mortality that's very bad. Not 1919 bad but bad.

Thanks, but don’t worry, I am taking it seriously. My wife has a weak immune system, so we’re fully prepped to basically isolate ourselves for months, should that be needed. Just topped off my final items this week.

My kids kept getting strep throat. We treated the whole family and my son still got it again
Then I figured it out...it was the dog. Antibiotics for the dog and no more strep.

What is the ethnicity of the Seattle patient, vs. the German patient zero?

Was the German guy quarantined immediately and pumped full of anto-retroviral drugs?

It sounds to me like the Seattle guy visited his relatives - so Asian heritage. The German guy - I’m guessing just German.

With my tinfoil hat on I would say it is targeting non-asians.

But obviously China is bearing the brunt of it now. Prayers for them.

When you read the following, think about the U.S. cities where homeless are currently being allowed to defecate on the sidewalks and in the streets!!!
