Republicans in the Senate secured enough votes Friday evening to reject Democratic efforts to extend the Trump impeachment trial and call new witnesses, as the final vote on whether or not to remove President Trump from office could drag into next week.

The link says they voted 51/49.
I know you’ve got your decent reasons for saying that.
I’m not going to give you trouble over it.
By Monday you may look very good for having said that.
“Mitch was able to get the votes to shut down new witnesses.
I salute him for pulling it off.”
It’s like Kavanaugh all over again but better. All hail Cocaine Mitch!
Ha!
I listened to the Dem and Repub arguments today. The Repub side did very well.
I was trying to listen to Schiff as a DemoRat would, and if youre a DemoRat, his words would also sound convincing.
The Dems are going to squeal full VICTIM STATUS because they were “deprived” of a chance to bring witnesses to the Senate. That will resonate with a lot of low-information Sheeple voters, unfortunately.
I also say screw Bolton for all this. Hes a petty little fellow.
Bolton should speak out and clarify his statement now instead of being quiet. Otherwise, when his book comes out, the low-information voters mentioned above will be really pissed off if his book is indeed incriminates Trump. I think his book will ultimately be a non-issue because he probably will say that Trump mentioned those words about linkage in passing as something he would “like to do” but knows that he shouldn’t do in government.
In Trump’s business world, quid-pro-quo is done all the time and I’m sure that’s a standard part of his repertoire, so it’s likely very hard from him to refrain from his habit of doing so — while in public office.
Other than personal vengeance, why do you think Bolton would write incriminating words about quid pro quo “linkage” in his book, knowing how that would topple the apple cart during the impeachment trial - or after. If he really cares about his country and the conservative cause and keeping a Repub in office, wouldn’t you think if the statement Trump presumably made to him was incriminating, that Bolton would just keep quiet and leave it out of his book??
I cant imagine he’s done this just wants to sell books. He’s probably quite comfortable financially and quite old without many years left.
Great line!
Follow it with, lets put the parties aside and see if we can’t do more for the American people.
Watch them squirm.
It is kind of funny watching the left whine about it right now...you know the ones that would NOT let GOP call witnesses in the House, or have Lawyers ask questions of their witnesses in the House and hid 1 transcript from the Senate..,democrats blocked a fair trial in the House. That is where all the info for the Senate to review comes from, the House. Seems like they should be mad at how Schiff and Nadar ran their impeachment hearings instead of trying to get their base to think it is all the GOPs fault.......but as the old saying goes..That’s Politics
Good...
Absolutely, like immediately!
I wonder if Collins will gain more Dem Maine voters or lose more conservative/independent voters by voting for more witnesses. Sometimes Dem voters don’t give RINOs much credit for the help. We’ll see if she survives.
For one, it would have eliminated the demoncRats from being able to game any votes.
It would have put them out of reach, to win on anything.
Thanks...
Thanks...
No chance. No Senator will allow President Trump to crow over his acquittal at either the Superbowl or the SOTU, which is precisely why it is being dragged out to Wednesday.
They demoncRats have got nothing now.
You're not the only one saying that, and I think many of us would like it to happen that way, myself included.
We have just prevented the Leftist Senate primary candidates from participating before Tuesday.
So theyll refuse to cooperate unless every Senator gets to make a 10-minute speech
OK, let’s get it over with. Let’s go into the middle of the night tonight and they’re done. Then take the final vote.
No, it's not over yet. I agree.
I'm a happy camper this evening.
You guys will have plenty of time to give me hell if things go South.

You’re right there’s likely no way out. Hopefully the President has a little fun with her. Endorses her, says a vote for Collins is a vote for Trump. Make her miserable and take credit for her win. But after the convention. She needs to hear from the base, what we all think of her.
He may, my FRiend.
They need a 2/3 majority to convict though, if he does it may be the last straw that costs him his seat in 2024.
Epic vote.
Epic roll call.
Ill never forget how my heart seemed to stop during the hesitation at Murkowski.
