ATLANTA (WJBF) – Thirty-three new troopers with the Georgia State Patrol are out of a job after it was discovered they allegedly cheated on exams, authorities said at a press conference Tuesday.
Col. Mark McDonough, commissioner of the Department of Public Safety and head of GSP, said that students with the 106th trooper school cheated during an online test for speed detection in October of 2019. The investigation began just days after testing and included interviews with each of the students.
Top DSP officials learned about the scandal from the girlfriend of one of the cadets, Demon Clark, WJBF reported. The girlfriend allegedly admitted she took the online test for Clark. When the cadet was asked about the cheating allegations, he told his superiors “he was not the only one who cheated, the whole class cheated,” and that is when the decision was made to investigate the testing of the entire class, McDonough said.
According to the Department of Public Safety, during the investigation each cadet described the way they cheated and helped each other with the online exam. Investigators also found that the cadets used Snapchat, group messages and Google to find and share test answers.

They aren’t upset that the cadets cheated, it’s the news of the cheating that compromises their cases against speeders.
I was told by a law enforcement officer that ALL GPS officers have a quota complete each month.
When the lights are turned on by GPS, you will get a ticket.
They have to be able to claim competency, testify under oath about the accuracy, etc.
it’s all about the legal challenges to their tickets.
I believe the exam also includes visual estimation of speed, not just the use of radar or lidar equipment, and it also probably tests on the use of VASCAR, which is a passive speed calculation system.

So its about the buzz-words they are supposed to say to justify a ticket if challenged. Not exactly corrupt, but creepy, as its both a means of defending justice and aggressively dishing it out, say, for ticket quota cash.
Can’t see that happening on a speed estimation test.
GSP has a class on how to have a look down your nose nasty attitude while wearing your dumbassed whatever hats it is they wear. Why each and every one of those guys have such a nasty way and attitude I’ll never know.
