Feeling the Bern in California
Powerline ^ | jAN. 28, 2020 | Steven Hayward

My pals at the Institute of Governmental Studies here at UC Berkeley (where I remain a fellow against all odds—story to follow some day soon) today released their latest poll on the state of the presidential race here in the once Golden State ahead of the March primary. I know the IGS pollster, Mark DiCamilo, quite well (in fact we shared an office for a time), and I think he is one of the best in the polling business. One of these days he’ll be a guest on the Power Line podcast.

Anyway, guess what Mom? Bernie is surging:

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders is now the outright leader in voter preferences in California’s upcoming March 3rd Democratic presidential primary. The latest Berkeley IGS Poll completed last week finds Sanders to be the choice of 26% of likely voters in the Democratic primary. Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren is second at 20%, followed by former Vice President Joe Biden at 15%. No other Democrat is in double digits. . .

If Bernie doesn’t win the nomination we may see third party candidates appear. The “protest” voters will push Trump over the top, if he isn’t there already.

Why not.
The Democrats largely got the open primaries instituted.

Now they are about to be on the receiving end. What goes around comes around.

If Bernie can pull off either California or New York then Republicans and independents are going to stuff him down the Democrats throats.

I expect that they will toss him out somehow.

I also expect thet he will run on a ticket with Tulsi Gabbard if they do, and that the Democrats could come out third in the general election.

Bernie would be the most fun to run against.

I’d end up saying ‘God-hating commie’ about a million times by Election Day.

The way it’s going, Skunk Cabbage may need to pull some type of Seth Rich on Bernie just to stop him from running away with the nomination...and thereby locking her out of her plan to ride in, on her white stallion, at the DNC Convention.

“I can’t believe a communist may end up representing the Democratic party in the general election.....”

The Dems have really changed. Any efforts to portray themselves as moderate is only window dressing. They want absolute government control, no religion, all the attributes of socialism/communism. Alinsky is their God.

"I can’t believe a communist may end up representing the Democratic party in the general election. "

Hmmm... You appeared to have forgotten to add an "/s"...

By definition (based on policies, strategies, and history): democrat==communist!

There is no such thing as a "non-communist" demoncrat... One of the results of being 86-years old is having personally witnessed this onslaught since FDR was the "Premier"...

Their party platform this time will be a total abolition of _all_ of the Bill of Rights.

Watch your six, Bernie! Nicolás Maduro has run out of other people's money. He's looking for a new country to bankrupt. He's 57, you're 78 -- say goodbye to your youth vote. The "natural born citizen" nonsense can be answered in two words: John Roberts.

Brokered convention, here we come!
