Grasshoppers Devastate Midwestern Crops (USA)

On this day in 1931, a swarm of grasshoppers descends on crops throughout the American heartland, devastating millions of acres. Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota, already in the midst of a bad drought, suffered tremendously from this disaster.

That is all true but its not the blockage that is much of a concern. I would imagine that blockage is just another day in the office for a surgeon. Handling intestinal abcesses and dealing with gastrointestinal perforation are a much more complicated and serious if less likely potential issues.
