The White House told former national security adviser John Bolton that his manuscript included significant amounts of classified information, according to a Jan. 23 letter made public on Jan. 29. Bolton has a book scheduled for a March release; parts of the book were leaked to the media, which published some of the details.
The letter was sent to Boltons lawyer, Charles Cooper, from Ellen Knight, the senior director for records, access, and information security management for the White House National Security Council.
Based on our preliminary review, the manuscript appears to contain significant amounts of classified information. It also appears that some of this classified information is at the TOP SECRET level, which is defined by Executive Order 13526 as information that reasonably could be expected to cause exceptionally grave harm to the national security of the United States if disclosed without authorization, Knight wrote.
Under federal law and the nondisclosure agreements your client signed as a condition for gaining access to classified information, the manuscript may not be published or otherwise disclosed without the deletion of this classified information.

Boy did he turn out to be a piece of garbage.
Could he get thrown into jail for revealing classified information, or is that something they will overlook?
But wait a minute. Bolton knows better than the White House.
This meant nothing to him.
Democrats determine what classified info should be made public, and what unclassified info should be treated as if was classified.
They also determine when a stink should be made about it, and when it should be swept under the carpet.
In the District of Corruption lots of things are “overlooked”. Just saying.
He should (see 18 USC 798 — up to 10 years in prison), but it won’t happen.
Would be such a shame if Bolton loses his entire book deal (and all the $$ that go with it) out of his treachery to POTUS..
Frosts me no end that these people get jobs in the WH, then use their access to write “tell all” books and cash in. This should not be allowed and in fact, I did read that it would violate the NDA that he signed.
Sue him to high heaven if he breathes ONE WORD that violates his NDA. And JAIL HIM if he violates National Security. This shi* has to end.
That's the most lucrative kind!
Lucky for him he’s not some lowly submariner or his ass would already be in jail.
Schadenfreude, schadenfreude...
(Sung to the tune of Edelweiss.)
“””””””””Democrats determine what classified info should be made public, and what unclassified info should be treated as if was classified.”””””””””””””
And as long as they run it through the NYT it is perfectly legal.
Lucky for him hes not some lowly submariner or his ass would already be in jail.
No chit! Imagine DS perps getting the punishments the peons get. Martha Stewart comes to mind, as well.
Me Thinks that the Democrats will jump on this as another example of obstruction of congress. Perhaps the person who leaked information to the NYT should be investigated by the FBI in the same kind of sting operation that they used on Flynn.
It is my understanding that books by former holders of Top Secret or higher security clearances let the government decide what is classified to avoid problems so all is submitted without self censorship.
Gets the letter the 23rd, and when did this leak hit, the 24th? Arrest his ass.
anybody manage to find a copy of this putative letter online?
here’s a link to the letter:

NSC review says manuscript contains large amount of classified information Bolton swore not to reveal and can’t be published until all the classified stuff is removed ...
this actually has nothing to do with Trump per se ... but does seem to correlate when Bolton chose to leak some of the manuscript to the NYT ... instead of complying with the NSC ...
