You’ve got to hand it to the Democrats -- they can hold their caucus together for the flimsiest of causes. The GOP, though, has all these RINOs who have to establish their independence; they’re willing to break party unity when it serves their own ambitions. Three senators – Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Susan Collins of Maine, and Mitt Romney of Utah – are rumored to be willing for witnesses to be called in the impeachment trial now underway in the Senate. Obviously, such a slowdown benefits the Democrats, who want the impeachment to headline news reports as long as possible. Further and more importantly, it was the House’s responsibility to build its case by compiling evidence and presenting it to the Senate for a trial; it is not the Senate’s responsibility to gather evidence.
The Democratic case lacks “overwhelming evidence” as Senator Joni Ernst of Iowa said, calling the whole process “a political exercise.” Ernst and others, like Lindsey Graham, are unwilling to extend the trial and accomplish the Democrat’s goal of dominating headlines in the run-up to the November elections.
The question is whether the three RINOs mentioned above will put the good of the country above their own emotional needs or self-interest.
Take Senator Mitt Romney. Remember when he needed endorsements when running for President? He went to New York to ask for Trump’s endorsement. He got it. Remember, after he lost the Presidency, he ran for senator from Utah. He sought and received Trump’s endorsement. Typically, such political favors generate appreciation and are reciprocated. Not so with Romney.

I think that Collins was committed to having her questions answered in the next session. Only Pierre has insisted on new witnesses. After the 16 hours of Q&A, then they will take a vote (I hope). Listening to Manchin, I think that is a plan he wants to send back home..
With every passing day Trump’s popularity grows. Even some FReepers who are pathological malcontents whining for three years that Trump would be thrown out of office by Democrats and RINOs are starting to change their tune.
These dopes in Washington have completely misread the political landscape. Trump supporters are outraged that foreign countries like Ukraine get even one penny from U.S. taxpayers ... and these @ssholes in Congress and the media are trying to throw Trump out of office for trying to WITHHOLD money from Ukraine?
This must be some kind of joke. Donald Trump and Vince McMahon couldn’t have scripted a WWE spectacle any better than this.

I believe as the revelations of Bolton come out they will all flee from this idea.
I’m sure there will be enough democrat votes to oppose them. Wise democrats in the Senate know they do not want more witnesses because nothing has gone right for them yet.
The only way it helps them is it gives them more air time to tell more lies.
Let them drag it out. Don’t know and don’t care and the American people have zero interest in their political games.

Each and every day that Schumer and his RAT/RINO pals can drag out this Schiff Show, is a day where NOTHING at all gets done in the Senate. No judges confirmed. No spending bills passed. NOTHING at all is getting done.

Romney is a bottom feeder. Mitch needs to expel him from the party caucus, this is too important to not punish him severely.

The author doesn’t get it. In DC there are NO RULES. Its all made up as they go along.
John McCain voted against ObamaDoesntCare repeal and look what happened to him. Dead 13 months later.
If more witnesses are called, Republicans must take the offensive big-time and make the Democrats pay. We have already seen some signs of this. They need more than angry tweets from the President.
You folks are missing something about Murkowski. If Sarah doesn’t go after her like she did the Murkowski’s father then Sarah is part of the problem. She could have done it in 16’ but she didn’t.
I think the House Democrats want this over so they can go back to their committees and start another round of impeachment “inquiries”.
