Can Collins be this stupid? MaGA voters will bail on her and it will be embarrassing. Well, we lose her and gain Sessions but her defeat is necessary.

Good fricking riddance. Senate needs a rebuild, like a floundering sports team. Dump the losers and try to grow new young conservative prospects to win back the Senate in 2022.

Nothing has changed.

McConnell said he doesn’t have the votes locked down yet, but it is a work in progress. Only 2 of the 4 necessary to have witnesses have committed.

Murkowski has not. Nor has Alexander. Dems Jones and Dem Manchin can be considered as likely to vote against witnesses as either of those two could vote for witnesses.

It takes 4. Not 2. To block a resolution to call witnesses requires 51 votes. Not 50. 51.

A tie is a loss, so it would depend on the phrasing. A tie in a vote to have witnesses would mean no witnesses, and a tie in a vote to dispense with witnesses and move on to the voting phase would leave the question unresolved. So how the question is phrased is critical if you expect a tie.

Because lawyers.

To convict would require 2/3 so 67 votes, if all Senators are present, once they get to that phase.

“”[B]ut for the efforts that four of us made to ensure that vote would occur, that it’s unlikely that we would have had that opportunity.””

And Maine voters have put her in office for how many years? I don’t even know what that tortured sentence means!

Correction . . . to PASS a witness resolution requires 51. If there are only 50 votes for it, that resolution fails.

No, a resolution to call witnesses fails on 50/50. A resolution to dispense with witnesses would also fail on a 50/50 vote.

McConnell said he doesn’t have the votes locked down yet,

I don't buy it. Mitch has tremendous power over the GOP machinery nationwide. How many times has he sunk one of our conservative senatorial candidates?

If Mitch wants you to lose, you will lose. He's just not putting the screws to his RINOs like he could.

McConnell is the only reason Kavanaugh is on the USSC.
He held up Obama’s nominee to await the election.
That was ALL McConnell. Gutsy and brilliant move.
McConnell is not responsible for this witness issue. Romney’s hatred of the President is most of this. I doubt Murkowsky will vote for witnesses. Even if she did, it would fail if Alexander falls in line.

Remember, a resolution fails if it gets only 50 votes. There will be no resolution to block witnesses. There will only be resolutions to HAVE witnesses. They will come from the Dems. If they get only 50 votes, they fail.

Frankly, the way this will play is if Jones and Manchin see it’s going to be less than 51 votes during the voting process, they will vote against witnesses and it will be a bipartisan rejection.

And how do we propose that? Phone calls don’t work, most of America works and cannot march on DC. March on any Capitol is a joke, not like our elected officials give a rat’s behind what we care about anyway.
What are your thoughts on how to get term limits?

So, she thinks it would not be “incredible” for the senate to remove Trump from office.

She thinks this action is serious on the merits. That there is a colorable justification for removal, however one chooses to put the point.

Either that or she needs more evidence in order to make up her mind which way to go, so SHE thinks the accusation has merit and is simply lacking evidence.

I see that as literally nutty. There is no harm, but she want to look for .... what? And with the ultimate decision being black and white, remove or not remove. Needs more info? Really?

It would have to be very grass roots, local, organize like we have never done before. I’m certain there are people much smarter than I with better ideas. But what it ultimately will take is an electorate so fed up, so angry, so ready to fight, that it would happen.

Just had a call from the NRCC. Told them I wouldn’t give the party a nickle. What’s thjis nonsense about “want witnesses?” Support Trump. I do. It’ll be a cold day in hell that I support the NRCC.

Life long GOP party ticket voter. Voted Romney and McCain. And look what I got in thanks for that!

I think I see your problem. :-)
