Is the piano player named Sam?
I agree.
I try to avoid obvious problems, but there’s some kind of danger in many places in our nation.
There have been six or seven 6.5 plus earthquakes near me over the years. The loss of life has been quite small for a large population center like this.
That may not be the case some day.
Best of luck to you.
The first was a 7.7 125Km NNW of Lucea, Jamaica at 10Km depth.
The second was a 7.3, 117Km NNW of Lucea, Jamaica, also at 10Km depth.
LOL, you’re pretty much on target there.
Northern California appeals to me.
Wow, that sounds terrible.
Glad everyone was safe. That could have been a real nightmare.
It would clear out the asian carp
Had several siesmic recording stations set up at a few of our sites, earthquakes every damn day.
Most were so small you couldn’t feel them.
According to the new Bloomberg ad, Trump’s fault.
Well, don’t make Pele’ angry haole.
Upgraded to 7.7 now.
Shoulda been Mecca.
Yeah. And if it’s 7.3 that’s five-fold the Northridge Quake.
I’’ve been through them. I was in Monterey Park for the Northridge and Santa Cruz for Loma Prieta.
Ohhhh 2? Uh oh.
1. 7.5 can cause a tsunami if shallow enough, this is is 10 Km (5 miles) deep, indicating high potential for significant surface displacement
2. Nature of the fault movement. Thrust/subduction zones can create a lot of vertical displacement - doesn't need a land slide. In this case, the fault is a transform which results on more lateral and less vertical displacement.
Absolutely. Move away from the massive people congestion and earthquakes to sizeable people congestion, some earthquakes, and numerous wildfires. Good chance you'll end up in a district that has a 70% DEM voting rate.
;-)
Jamaica, Cuba and the Cayman islands were all said to be at risk.
The US Geological Survey said the 7.7-magnitude quake hit off the northwest coast of Jamaica, prompting the US Tsunami Warning Center to issue an alert.
The centre of the quake was a relatively shallow six miles beneath the surface of the ocean, prompting fears of damage. Shallower earthquakes tend to be more destructive.
It struck 73 miles from Lucea on Jamaica, and shaking was reported across nearby islands, according to Accuweather.
Tsunami waves as high as a metre are possible along some coasts of Belize, Cuba, Honduras, Mexico, Jamaica and the Cayman Islands, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
It was not immediately clear whether there was any damage or injuries.
A journalist covering a trial in Guantanamo Bay tweeted: The earth is literally shaking here in the Camp Justice press room. Tremors rocking the floor and desk.

I was thinking that when I saw where it was.
