LOL, you’re pretty much on target there.
Northern California appeals to me.
Absolutely. Move away from the massive people congestion and earthquakes to sizeable people congestion, some earthquakes, and numerous wildfires. Good chance you'll end up in a district that has a 70% DEM voting rate.
Just be advised; we have volcanoes up here, Lassen and Shasta come immediately to mind, not much action in our lifetimes but you never can tell when they will decide to go ape.
Fortunately most of the winds come out of the west and west-southwest, so most of the crap (ash, dust, etc) should wind up in Siskiyou, Modoc and Lassen counties.
But life is good here; I can hunt deer, bear, wild turkey, quail, dove, and in the nearby counties I can go for duck, goose, and pheasant. Up in the Skedaddle Mountains it’s good for quail and chukar partridge.
The rivers and creeks are good for salmon and trout, an hours drive to the coast is good for rock fish and Lingcod.
Just as an afterthought, I have my own rifle rang outside the front door (snicker snicker).
