John Bolton preoccupied the media today, but it’s clear there’s no “there there”
American Thinker ^ | 01/28/2020 | Andrea Widburg

The big news on Sunday was a leak claiming that John Bolton, Trump's former National Security Adviser, has a book coming out that says Trump told Bolton that he wanted to force Ukraine to investigate Biden before releasing security assistance money. Democrats went wild with delight; Republicans opted to ask questions rather than to come up with instant, wrong answers. They were wise to do so.

Many people noticed that, despite the Democrats’ immediate insistence that it’s absolutely pivotal to their impeachment case that they question Bolton before the Senate, that wasn’t what they were saying last year. Last year, they invited Bolton to testify but he declined . . . only to add that he would appear if they subpoenaed him. That was a bridge too far. Fearing a fight in Court with Trump (which is the usual way disputes between the Executive and Congress are resolved when it comes to subpoenas), the House went full Roseanne Rosannadanna and said, “Never mind.” Apparently Bolton wasn’t that important after all.

The announcement’s timing also made people question its legitimacy. Coming as it did in the middle of the impeachment hearing, it reminded many people of the way in which Christine Blasey-Ford’s allegations suddenly popped up during the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearing. It let Democrats turn his hearing into a circus, so why not do the same to President Trump’s impeachment?

For Bolton and his publishers too, the timing was perfect, because it offered the type of advertising money can’t buy:

Per the text of the statement, they didn't deny coordination with NYT on the book leak at all. The only thing they specifically denied in that statement was working with NYT to put up the Amazon pre-sale page yesterday, https://t.co/F9Wh3saqY7

That should have been Emily Litella. -5 for incorrect pop culture reference.

Republicans need to completely ignore the NYT, Post, etc. and just state for the record, SO WHAT? They give the propaganda class too much credit...

But John Boltons mind reading Trumps thoughts is evidence for the impeachment. Either that or it’s a cheap parlor trick to boost book sales from which he has a vested financial interest.

Any consideration of new information from Bolton must include new information from Joe/Hunter Biden. Why is it that we are always the ones making concessions?

WANTING TO do something is not the same as doing something.

Nor is wanting to do something the same as doing something that you have a right — and a duty to the public — to do.

My idea of soundtrack for all Bolten or Romney posts....

I notice the revised reissue lyric for The Backstabbers by the O’Jays altered a line or two, such as the last lines...(no longer am radio friendly-—if am radio music existed)

The Backstabbers

A few of your buddies they sure look shady
Blades are long, clenched tight in their fist
Aimin’ straight at your back
And I don’t think they’ll miss
(What they do!)
(They smile in your face)
All the time they want to take your place
The back stabbers (back stabbers)

I keep gettin’ all these visits from my friends, yeah, what they doin to me
They come to my house again and again and again and again, yeah
So are they there to see my woman
I don’t even be home but they just keep on comin’
What can I do to get on the right track
I wish they’d take some of these knives off my back
All the time they want to take your place
The back stabbers
(back stabbers)

Low down... dirty...bastards

Smiling faces... smiling faces sometimes tell lies

F’n Bolton. Yesterday the whole Biden corruption stew was finally laid out, but because the MSM had this selfish little traitors book to focus on it is all we are hearing about. We pretty much had a lock on the no witness thing and then Vindman’s brother leaks it to the NYT just at the right moment. So now I’d say it’s even odds the rats get their witnesses. Damn it.

A disgruntled ex-employee with an axe to grind takes the musings of his boss as gospel and embellishes it in order to sell books now that he is unemployable.

Toss in a single mom who returns to her tiny home town to celebrate Christmas and you've got the making of a Hallmark movie.

Even if it’s all the Dems got, don’t expect them to refrain from an ill-considered, hasty charge against PDJT!

Republicans are so easily manipulated. They always over-react to some BS plant story that is designed to throw them off their message. Why not just ignore it? Why don’t they just announce that ‘we don’t give a damn what the NYT says’?

John Bolten book pre-sales opened at miserable #10 on amazon.com. Book is dead in the water and John Bolten has destroyed his career!!! Bolten has neither friends, nor allies in the Democrat Party or the Republican Party.

If he wishes to save himself he should withdraw his book, tell the Democrat Party to take a hike and openly apologize to POTUS, Trump, the Republican Party and the American people!!! Otherwise Bolten is nothing but...burnt toast!!!

According to Democrat logic, if you think about robbing bank
but never actually do it, you’re still guilty of robbing a
bank.

To me, neither Bolton nor any Biden is important, because the funds were released! It doesn’t matter if Trump wanted Ukraine to do anything, because he ended up releasing the money without getting anything for it! Do not fall for the distractions. The bottom line is that Trump did nothing wrong! Nothing!

The money quote:

It’s totally irrelevant whether Trump toyed with the idea of tying releasing the money to investigating corruption [...]

what’s important here is what Trump actually did, as opposed to what he toyed with doing. And what he did was have a telephone call with Zelenskyy in which he told Zelenskyy that, when it came to aid, Europe was falling down on the job, even though it would be more affected by Russian aggression than America would be. Long after mentioning the aid, almost as an afterthought, Trump asked if Ukraine could check into the question of Biden’s son, because it was becoming an issue in America.

No quid. No pro. No quo. After releasing the funds, almost two weeks before the deadline Congress had set, Trump had a nice meeting with Zelenskyy. And that’s it. That’s the whole story. Bolton’s reports about Trump’s prior fulminations are completely superseded by Trump’s actions.
