John Bolton's bombshell gives the GOP a glimpse of its nightmare scenario

We finally got a taste Sunday night of what former national security adviser John Bolton might tell President Donald Trump's Senate impeachment trial -- if he's called to testify, that is.

What we learned reinforced the potential peril for Republicans if they refuse to let him do so.

The New York Times reported Sunday that Bolton makes a series of very big Ukraine-related claims in an unpublished manuscript of his upcoming book, which is now slated to be released in March.

(snip) -- Bolton is naming names - lots of names - and directly contradicting what top administration officials are saying.

(snip) -- The nightmare scenario for the GOP is that they give Trump the quick and witness-free acquittal that he apparently desires, but then information like Bolton's keeps coming out.

(snip) -- Bolton's upcoming book - which is now slated for March 17 - is a great example of how the hastily assembled walls the Trump team have built around its defense can quickly crumble and in some cases already have.

The Dems played their cards in the House and in the impeachment charges they sent to the Senate. They could have called Bolton and other witnesses during that process. They chose not to. Now, this whole fake set up to stop this President from doing his work and from winning again, needs to be dismissed for the sake of the survival of this nation. An election will take place in 9 months which will determine which President our people want in office. Please, Senator McConnell, do not allow this to go on longer. Take the vote and be done with this vile episode in our history. As far as the four Senators who are holding out for more of this travesty, the one I am most hurt for is Senator Collins. I remember when she stepped up to the plate and gave an awesome address during the crooked, fake situations drummed up against Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh. She restored my faith in my country at that moment. God, please help her to do it again.

I do not know whose idea was to bring Bolton into the White House. Given Bolton’s background as a Grade A War Monger and on the Board of the Neo-Con Bombs Away Corporation I know that was a horrible move. I wonder if this whole thing was a setup. This a true stabbed in the back moment.

The facts are that the aid was sent to Ukraine, and they didn’t have to investigate Biden or even announce an investigation to get it. Unless Bolton can offer testimony that refutes those facts, he has nothing to offer.
