A recent study found that college professors across the United States are overwhelmingly in favor of Democrats over Republicans when it comes to making political donations.
The study, conducted by Heterodox Academy Director of Research Sean Stevens and Brooklyn College Professor Mitchell Langbert and published by non-profit organization National Association of Scholars, showed that political contributions made by college faculty members were “almost exclusively to Democratic candidates and committees.”
Upon their analysis of Federal Elections Commission‘s voter registration and political donation data of some 12,300 college professors at universities in 31 states and the District of Columbia during the past two election cycles in 2015-16 and 2017-18, the two researchers found that professors donated to Democrats more than Republicans by a 95:1 ratio. Nearly half of those professors are registered Democrats, while only 5.7 percent are registered Republicans.
In terms of academic fields, the study found that economic professors have the lowest DemocratRepublican (DR) donor ratio at 17:1. The three academic fields with the highest DR donor ratio are English (244:1), Anthropology (214:1), and Psychology (184.1). Sociology professors, although having a high DR registration ratio at 27:1, have a disproportionately low DR donor ratio (31:1).
When it comes to gender differences, the DR donation ratio for female professors (216.0:1) was considerably higher than the DR donation ratio among male professors (67.5:1).
The two authors also highlighted a series of limitations in their research. For example, a good number of college professors are not registered as a member of either major political party. Many professors aren’t even registered to vote. Registration data is also unavailable for those who are not U.S. citizens, and those based in nonU.S. universities. More importantly, 20 states deny public access to the registration data or simply do not collect it at all.

Pathetic that these unethical indoctrinators should be paid by parents to miseducate their children.
This is the problem and has been for 20 years. Very severe.
this report keeps getting republished year after year but nobody even tries to do anything to fix the problem?
“...This is the problem and has been for 20 years. Very severe....”
Yep. All the free govt. “grant money” buys a lot of votes.
20 years ago, the word “Professor” actually meant something: respected, highly-intelligent, good moral character, an ability to teach complex topics.
Today? Not so much. Today, “professor” means nothing but just another useless, libtard, SJW communist. And it would be comical, if it weren’t so serious: Parents actually paying big-time dollars to have their darling, little snowflakes sit under these communist, anti-American azzholes to fill their dainty little minds with nothing but SJW mush. When they finally do graduate, they’re basically useless to society. It’s better to go to a good trade/technical school and pick up a trade and become really good at it. Good paying jobs that are actually useful to society.
We are currently spending approximately $600 Billion a year on higher education. A little less than half of this goes to these worthless leftist indoctrinators.
Engineering not listed. All republicans
Diversity. Yeah, right.
The three academic fields with the highest DR donor ratio are English , Anthropology and Psychology
No hard Sciences.
Surprised it is that low /s
It goes back a lot further than that. Buckley's God and Man at Yale was published in 1951, and he described the same liberal bias that infects our universities today.
Centers of Higher Level Indoctrination - bump for later....
And 95% more likely to ONLY hire other liberals.
And make sure any conservatives get purged.
And they actually needed a study to tell us that?
You are right. John
Grisham wrote a great book on this topic.
In real life, there was at least one young man who killed himself because he just could not pay off the one hundreds of thousands of dollars in student loans he owed.
Young people are putting every major event on hold settling down getting married buying a home having children, everything is delayed well they try desperately to pay off their student loans with degrees that are pretty much useless in the workplace.
Engineering not listed. All republicans
Is there a figure on that? I’m serious. It goes with one of my writings.
Creators of this scam of coarse
Agree. The universities preach diversity and have no diversity in political thought.
