Coronavirus may have originated in lab linked to China's biowarfare program

The deadly animal-borne coronavirus spreading globally may have originated in a laboratory in the city of Wuhan linked to China’s covert biological weapons program, said an Israeli biological warfare analyst.

Radio Free Asia last week rebroadcast a Wuhan television report from 2015 showing China’s most advanced virus research laboratory, known the Wuhan Institute of Virology. The laboratory is the only declared site in China capable of working with deadly viruses.

Dany Shoham, a former Israeli military intelligence officer who has studied Chinese biological warfare, said the institute is linked to Beijing’s covert bio-weapons program.

“Certain laboratories in the institute have probably been engaged, in terms of research and development, in Chinese [biological weapons], at least collaterally, yet not as a principal facility of the Chinese BW alignment,” Mr. Shoham told The Washington Times.

Work on biological weapons is conducted as part of dual civilian-military research and is “definitely covert,” he said in an email.

...Gao Fu, director of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, told state-controlled media that initial signs indicated the virus originated from wild animals sold at a seafood market in Wuhan.

One ominous sign, said a U.S. official, is that false rumors circulating on the Chinese internet claim the virus is part of a U.S. conspiracy to spread germ weapons. That could indicate China is preparing propaganda outlets to counter any charges that the new coronavirus escaped from one of Wuhan’s civilian or defense research laboratories.

The WHO is calling the microbe novel coronavirus 2019-nCoV... (Thursday) the organization stopped short of declaring a public health emergency of international concern.

China has deployed military forces to Wuhan to halt all travel out of the city of 11 million people in an effort to contain the outbreak of the virus, which causes pneumonialike symptoms...

Does the virus survive fusion?

I wonder if the Dems are cheering on the spread of the coronavirus because it may hurt the economy and weaken President Trump? How far would the Dems go? Would they even aid the transit of carriers over the weak US borders and spread them to sanctuary cities??

The Chinese have cultural customs that make them quite prone to picking up viruses in the wild and spreading them. They eat a lot of wildlife, thus constantly risking exposure to new microorganisms. Families live in close proximity to their livestock, sometimes even sharing living space. This creates a very direct passage from wild animals to livestock to people. Their hygiene is not optimal, again creating an environment for spreading disease.

And so on.

The fact that the outbreak occurred near the biolab is coincidental.

If we had the same cultural practices here, we’d be just as susceptible to outbreaks. But we don’t. We do not sell wild animals in markets, and even in our farmers markets, meat products come prepackaged—we don’t buy live meat to slaughter at home or at the market while we wait. We teach our children not to touch wild animals. (Although when I was a kid, I played with frogs whenever I found them, love those frogs.)

No need to go for conspiracies about created bioweapons. Nature creates them just fine without our help.

Many Chinese have a variation of the immune system that makes them more susceptible to viral infection. It has nothing to do with metabolism.

“...unless military steps in and just delivering enough food. But they haven’t exactly shown the capability to perform at that level.”

Seems like normal delivery methods to get food to the city would be best bet and have military enforce the do-not-cross-the-line edict via staging area(s)/supply point(s)

Unfortunately, that often seems to be the case. I have heard that some of the same people who did the anthrax were in charge of the Trump and Hillary investigations. Haven’t confirmed this.

Above is a link (sorry it looks goofy - you might have to paste it. Former bioweapons defense expert. He talks about how humans have the highest density population of large mammals, and how our proximity to wildlife makes us vulnerable.

I think he is probably accurate with regard to pandemics. Although when he talked about population density I thought - “Okay, but chimpanzees aren’t building 30 story buildings, transportation or sewage systems either!”

I appreciate your response and your confidence.

At this point in time, where the virus came from is less of a priority than containing the virus and treating the infected.

But I will continue to think that there may be a connection to the Wuhan bio lab.

We all bring our own biases to the table when we make decisions.

athere are some problems with germ warfare. The deployer cannot control its range. The experimenter may not be able to maintain complete sequestration of the pathogen in the laboratory in which case it gets the surrounding population first and most severely.Perhaps this is the successor to the One-Child policy for reducing population.

It might be, I just find it strange to have a large explosion in a city where the biolabs is located during a crisis.

The CDC wants to send people there to research, if China says No, then China is covering something up.

The genome of the novel virus causing infection has been published.

The Canadian lab from which a coronavirus was smuggled certainly has the genome of their virus.

I’m sure a comparison is, or has, been done.

After all, I read last week, which is an eternity in this news cycle, that the new virus genome shared 96% of its genes with the SARS virus, and something like 65% (fuzzy memory on that number) with the MERS (Egyptian) virus.

The comparison with the pilfered Canadian virus will be interesting. And, if its something like 99%, it will be explosive information, likely suppressed.

If the explosion. was at the lab I wonder if the local people could have attacked it due to rumors of the virus originating there? I could definitely see the possibility of angry locals if they thought it had something to do with their situation

It could be argued that Chernobyl brought down the Soviets but the chicoms are much more firmly entrenched and much harder to remove. Mainly because they are not communists anymore but some weird and highly modern amalgam of Confucism and fascism.

There is no indication that that video is from Wuhan or even China.

The locals there are very angry at their china and local government. They might have attack the lab and blew it up.

The explosion happen on Jan 24th.

Since it was so close to China New Year, could have been a warehouse fire with fireworks also. Wonder if the China local news posted anything on the internet about the explosion.

Chinese are wearing hazmat suits in the streets and at the reception desk at hospitals in China.

Those who have to deal with the public are taking a lot of precautions.

Not merely wearing face masks.

I don’t know that they ever truly determined who sent the anthrax letters.

The FBI had 2 different guys in their sights and flip-flopped on which actually did it and settled on the one who died.

Who killed the guy in Florida at the tabloid paper PRIOR to the 9-11 attacks?

Sure the other anthrax attacks with middle eastern terrorist warnings after the 9-11-2001 attacks may have been a copycat or other nut but how did the first anthrax attack happen before 9-11?
