President Trump’s legal team on Sunday previewed what will be the meat of their forthcoming defense this week by saying that even if all the allegations Democrats laid out last week were true, they would still fall short of “impeachable” offenses under the U.S. Constitution.
After House Democrats got their chance to make the case against Mr. Trump last week, the focus now turns to the defense as Republicans eye an end to a Senate impeachment trial that could see a vote to acquit the president by the end of the week.
“Even if the factual allegations are true — which are highly disputed and which the defense team will show contrary evidence — but even if true, they did not allege impeachable offenses,” Trump defense attorney Alan Dershowitz said on “Fox News Sunday.” “So there can’t be a constitutionally authorized impeachment.”
Mr. Trump is on trial after the House voted last month on two articles of impeachment: abuse of power for pressuring Ukraine to open up politically beneficial investigations, including into former Vice President Joseph R. Biden, and obstruction of Congress for not cooperating with the House impeachment inquiry.
But Mr. Dershowitz said abuse of power and obstruction charges are “vague, open-ended.”
“The conduct has to be criminal in nature — it can’t be abuse of power; it can’t be obstruction of Congress,” he said. “Those are precisely the arguments that the framers rejected.”
Mr. Trump’s team also is calling into question the credibility of Rep. Adam Schiff of California, the House Democrats’ lead impeachment manager who figures to be a key element of the defense strategy.
White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham on Sunday said on Fox News that it appears that Mr. Schiff is having a “mental issue” and he’s obsessed with taking down the president.

The interesting aspect of the Presidents defense team is it’s precision , calmness and courage in the face of Adam Schiffs propaganda machine.
Not only is the President extremely well represented in this defense, there is more than a defense of the president happening. The Schiff propaganda machine is being surgically disassembled, without anesthetic. Therefore the howls will also begin. There will be horrendous apoplexy in the liberal fascist Dem camp next week, and the insanity of Trump Derangement Syndrome will be on display to the whole nation.
Anyone who would vote Democrat after next week will have to be clinically insane to want to give the reins of either Congressional or Presidential power to the current Democrat Party.Adam Schiff’s mental state is a widespread sociopathy.The Dem Party will have to be completely rebuilt if it ever is to field any candidates who would win election to any office in the land.The brainwashing conducted by the Dem party of it’s base cannot be sustained.
President Trump will take 40 + states in November.And the Dems think that their much anticipated loss is a danger to the Security of America? A Dem win would endanger the security of America as a matter of clear unmitigated fact, for all to see.

That’s a stupid defense. The best defense is a good offense. They could cite the myriad (if that’s a real word) times previous Presidents withheld aid.
They did that Saturday. they also went over the times that Trump did it during this administration and no one said anything.
The Democratic Party should be billed for every expense incurred by the American Taxpayer because of their lengthy campaign to unseat the duly elected president. They must be made to pay for their insanity or it will never stop. On top of it the leaders of the “Insurrection” should be tried for TREASON as their attempts are decidedly anti the American Constitution. Their major target is our Constitution as they have to destroy it to destroy our sovereignty and make us subservient to the Socialist-Communist NWO. They have ALL broken their oath to protect and defend the constitution. All of this hoopla about the Ambassador to Ukraine is just a replay of the Comey affair. The executive branch is headed by the president who hires and fires all of those who SERVE AT HIS PLEASURE.

The Dems and Media didn’t follow the Constitution. They MUST pay a price above and beyond a thrashing in the polls.
They will absolutely do it again if there is not a severe penalty.
YES, YES! Impeachment will NOT be a stain on President Trump. The Dems did not meet the impeachment bar from the standpoint of legitimate crimes not the correct process!

Two can play that game. Trump's lawyers should say that the reason Biden decided to run for President was so that he could accuse Trump of withholding aid in order to damage Biden's candidacy.
