The Democrats’ Burisma Bait and Switch. They deny Trump the right to present a defense, then complain that he has produced no evidence.

...

It is also entirely possible that the Bidens’ actions, whether or not provably illegal, were so objectively suspicious, so suggestive of corruption, that it was perfectly reasonable for Trump to believe that they should be investigated — and that they could have violated American law, as well as Ukrainian law.

The president’s defense has not been given a fair opportunity to prove that. Even though the House impeachment managers are now arguing about Biden corruption allegations in their Senate presentation, the two leaders of the House impeachment inquiry, Adam Schiff and Jerry Nadler, took the position that Republican claims about the Bidens were irrelevant — a partisan red herring to distract from the “real” issues. They steadfastly refused to permit witnesses on that topic (including the Bidens themselves).

Moreover, the president was denied the right to have his counsel participate in the main investigative phase, run by Schiff. So, even though Schiff began the House hearings with an absurd parody version of the Trump–Zelensky conversation, falsely suggesting that Trump had asked Zelensky to “make up dirt” about Biden, the House denied the president the opportunity to prove that he was actually asking for help investigating activity that, objectively, appears quite suspicious and potentially corrupt.

Even if such an investigation would have helped Trump politically, it is a much different scenario if there was a real basis to believe the Bidens’ conduct should be scrutinized. Joe Biden is not immune from investigation just because he is running for president — certainly no more than the president himself is immune (which, obviously, he’s not).

The president has to be given an opportunity to prove his rebuttal case. A trial is not a trial, not in the American tradition, if prosecutors ... deny the accused the right to mount a defense.

The current Senate is both like and unlike the way Senate Republicans approached the Clinton Impeachment.

Like in that they still foolishly want to get along with Democrats and give them what makes them happy.

Unlike in that in this instance they deny the defense rather than preventing prosecution.

Also unmentioned is that Ukraine had already reopened the investigation 4 months before the call. How does one intimidate somebody in doing what they were already doing?

What are the odds that sons of Biden, Pelosi, Kerry and Romney all hold or held lucrative positions on the board of a corrupt foreign company. Did Burisma find their resumes on kijiji?

An exercise in feeding the blood thirsty demons of liberals

There is a reason perfectly sane and advance Greeks once a year freaked out in orgies cutting chicken heads off and bathing in blood.

“..It is also entirely possible that the Bidens’ actions, whether or not provably illegal,...”

WHAT?!? We have him on video - BRAGGING about doing the VERY thing they’re accusing and impeaching Trump for!

Once again, WHY is it that ONLY Republicans are ever tried for anything??

Let’s not forget that Paul Pelosi, Nancy’s son did exactly what Hunter Biden did in the Ukraine. Now why would Paul Pelosi, a man with no expertise or experience in the energy business, be hired and paid a huge amount of money by the Ukrainians?

When you are finally willing to admit and understand that we live in a banana republic, you then realize that this is all SOP.

Stop complaining that the Constitution and the law is being ignored and openly admit that neither exist any longer in any real sense.

Openly admit the republic is dead and then ask “what are we going to do about it?” STOP talking as if we are a republic with laws. That simply is not so.

I was watching a fox news program today, and I don't know who the guest was. The anchor asked him if they should call witnesses. The guest's response was priceless?

Witness to what? What was the crime? Who was the victim? They haven't alleged any crime. Tell me who the victim is? (silence from anchors)

The reason is to set up a no-win scenario for the Senate.

If you refuse to call witnesses the Senate will be lambasted by the MSM as biased and the impeachment unfairness was legitimatized.

If you call witnesses the Senate will have the trial dragged out without any purpose but to nipple-feed the TDS left further into the election year and interfere with the Senators trying to run for the presidency. The Senate will be charged with interfering with the election.

"They deny Trump the right to present a defense, then complain that he has produced no evidence."

Such a clear summary.

Gropin’Joe wanted the Ukrainian government to stop an investigation into corruption and President Trump wanted the Ukrainian government to begin an investigation into corruption and President Trump is the bad guy?

Will they have to suspend the Senate trial for a week of national mourning for Kobe Bryant?

That would be convenient for Warren, Sanders, Klobuchar and Bennet since the Iowa caucuses are coming up very soon.
