Here’s what we know – or think we know – about the new coronavirus: China has claimed that, in Wuhan, which is Ground Zero for the virus, 1,975 people have confirmed cases of coronavirus, with 324 in critical condition, and that 56 people have died. In addition, there are 2,684 suspected cases. The virus is a relative of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (or SARS), another coronavirus virus that hit in 2002. Experts are currently saying that the new virus is not as severe as the 2002 outbreak, although it may be more contagious. So far, that’s not too bad.
But here’s what we also know: China has quarantined more than 35 million people and stopped all travel in or out of Wuhan during the busy Chinese New Year season. China has also announced that it plans to build a 1,000-bed hospital within a week to treat coronavirus. Those stories either indicate that China is taking very seriously its responsibility to its people and to the world at large to stop an inconvenient and somewhat dangerous virus from spreading or it means that the Chinese government is scared and panicking.
One nurse in China says it’s the latter. The nurse, wearing heavy protective garb that hides her identity, has published a video claiming that 90,000 people have the coronavirus in Wuhan
I am here to tell the truth. At this moment, Hubei Province (including the Wuhan area), even China, 90,000 people have been infected by corona virus so far.
How much do you know about corona virus? If a person who is infected with coronavirus, if you can’t isolate someone who is infected with the virus, if you can’t make the right treatment to them,

The virus enters through the mucus membrane.
Example: Eyes, Nose, Mouth, Anus. If someone infected sneezes or coughs near you the airborne mist can settle on your lips or eyes or you could inhale it. If the mist settles on a doorknob, it stays active for about 5 days. Once you touch the doorknob it jumps to your hand. Once on your hand, you then pick up a sandwich and eat it...your infected!
Theres an MD or PhD who taught at the Harvard School of Public Health who Tweeted a couple of days ago that R0 was 3.8.
The Lancet IIRC argued it was only 2.5 or so.
But the 1918 Spanish Influenza was only 1.8.
I’d think any goggles that seal around the eyes would work.
It will take a lot more data to know what it actually is. - we do not have nearly enough info yet. For right now it’s enough to know that it appears to be fairly contagious.
Please point me to the *confirmation* — I have in fact already seen posts (some might have been yours?) that the word used was “dead” not “infected” ...but I have not seen confirmation of that COUNT of dead.
Not trolling, not looking for a flame war.
I understand in a fluid situation as this, hard data is difficult to come by. But there are errors of complacency (”oh just some internet nut or panic monger”) as well as riling people up for a laugh...I want to form my own impression of how reliable the figure of 90,000 is.
I read or heard on some newscast that the typical protective mask over the nose and mouth is inadequate because it could enter through the eyes.
They're not known as hair-on-fire panic mongers.
And Beijing has forbidden all land travel into or out of the city.
The Capital City of a nation of over a billion people.
What would it take to get Trump to shut down all land travel into or out of DC, pray tell?

i’m not saying it isn’t 2.5 or even higher. We won’t know til the dust settles. The point is it’s contagious
Without having to read all this crap... So, what is the number in the USA?
Let’s see what happens in Beijing and Shanghai first.

I too have read those reports on Twitter, I don’t want to believe it but it’s the only thing that adds up. China wouldn’t be bulldozing all exits from these cities unless it were something like this. If people were just getting sick and the death rate was even twice the normal flu, or three times, no way they would take such action. My thinking is the death toll is enormous, and once the truth gets out, panic. Hope I’m wrong.
If there were 90,000 dead the PRC government could not control the population left alive.
90,000 dead in a city of 11 million and a 2.5% would mean (If I put the decimal right) 3,600,000 cases or about 1/3 of the population 11 million in Wuhan. (Note if you make the morality rate higher the number of infected people gets worse and the problem gets worse. Including the issues that most of the medical staff would have died.
If that was the case you’d see then nonsymptomatic people fighting with the guards at checkpoints to leave. Indeed, the guards would have probably abandoned the checkpoints. OR - You’d see the army locking the place down and letting everyone die - maybe napalming the city.
90,000 cases can be believed 90,000 deaths, at this point is simply unbelievable because the math doesn’t work. FWIW - my niece is a nurse in a hospital in Wuhan.
After the first couple instances of shoot-to-kill-on-sight by the guards, you wouldn't.
People would hide at home.
On another site, there's a video from a former microbiologist, where he includes a Twitter link from someone supposedly in Wuhan: the streets are deserted.
Our satellites would likely have confirmed this level of severity, easily, by now.
Suppose, just suppose, that somebody wants to make this sound worse than it is, for the purpose of crashing the economy, and taking down a certain US President with it.
The streets are deserted because people have been told to stay inside.
I guess they could all be dead but under quarantine orders, they’ve been instructed to avoid contact unless they have to.
Good points, but they don’t bulldoze cities in for a flu bug that only kills twice the normal level, or three times, or even five times. I suspect the worst news is not out of the bag yet, hope I’m wrong.
Tell me, have you spoken to your niece? Why don’t you give her a call, if you can’t, then it’s far worse than you dare believe is my guess. I will pray for her safety.
