Despite talking for 24 hours in the Senate impeachment trial, Democrats failed to mention key evidence, because they know facts arent on the side, President Donald Trump defense attorney said in opening statements Saturday as Trumps defense began arguments.
Cipollone promised that Trumps attorneys would present the evidence that Democrats omitted, and said that those watching should ask: Why am I just hearing about this now, after 24 hours of sitting through arguments?:
The fact that they came here, for 24 hours, and hid evidence from you, is further evidence that they dont really believe in the facts of their case.
White House Counsel Pat Cipollone: "Today, we are going to confront them on the merits of their argument. Now they have the burden of proof and they have not come close to meeting it."

The Democrats not President Trump are actually the ones trying to perpetrate the most massive interference in an election in American history, Cipollone said:
That this is, for all their talk about election interference, that theyre here to perpetrate the most massive interference in an election in American history. And, we cannot allow that to happen.
It would violate our constitution. It would violate our history. It would violate our obligations to the future. And, most importantly, it would violate the sacred trust the American people have placed in you and have place in them.
The American people decide elections.
The 24 hours used in the Senate by the Dems was one of, if not the biggest farces ever pulled off on the Senate floor.
*************
Absolutely true. A disgusting display of partisan deceit and BS. And the articles of impeachment were never constitutional to begin with. The senate should have dismissed this outrageous charade on day one.
The adults are finally getting a chance to speak.
Even worse.
No shame at all.
I thought he was just speaking slowly so the esteemed spinators could understand and keep up. I’ve been told many times that when presenting to politicians to keep it at a third grade level.
Put the Democrat underlings on notice.
You could go to prison.
Dazzling. You forgot dazzling.
and dynamic too-
BTTT!!
[[The Dems are all LIARS!]]
they don’t even try to hide it anymore- and infact are proud of their public lying
The dangerous part about all this though is now they are totally emboldened, and they are blatantly now trampling our constitutional rights and attacking the right- Connecticut is considering a police force to ‘investigate far right groups’ now- Virginia declare emergencies in order to trample rights- and is going to ban many legal guns for no reason whatsoever- The gov also has a bill that would make it a crime to criticize the gov there- Oregon i believe is set to pass a ‘climate emergency bill’ that would financially cripple the residents there- with no need to even prove scientifically that an actual crisis exists-
[[The adults are finally getting a chance to speak.]]
Liberal hacks just had 23 hours of nonsense- and now they are out dominating the press giving interviews- so their nonsense will continue for days-
They are desperate. Period.
A day to savor...it will be interesting to see how much more time they will use on Monday and Tuesday.
The President’s lawyers star witness is going to be Adam Shiff testifying against himself. They let the Dems know today they are going after the impeachment managers and their ringleaders Schiff and Nadler. The interesting line was about Schiff not appearing as a witness in the Nadler hearings.
The media is going to be the media. If they covered Trump fairly, we would have never reached an impeachment hearing as the democrats have NO case. NO facts. No quid pro quo. NO crime. NOTHING.
I just finished watching it and it was effective, to the point, and addressed to the jury (not the media). Schiff’s case is weak and is geared to a sycophant media who will treat it like a kitten with milk.
At this point, the important people to whom this was addressed today were sitting in that room. The “jurors”.
Monday will be interesting because Trump and his team face a real stark choice at this point in the proceeding. They have “won” the case in the Senate, but will they put forth a case to the public and become aggressive or will they simply continue to answer the democrat charges point by point.
The “witness” question has pretty much been answered as the Senators do not want to remain locked down watching paint dry for many more weeks.
I am ready to see an aggressive attack from the Trump team on the whole process and the players. However, I also see the merits in a quick vote and dismissal and appreciate the arguments of some that “this” hearing might not be the forum in which to attack this farce.
Sadly, the second tact to just get it over with quickly will have to rely on the “King of Empty Promises” (aka Lindsey Graham) to actually hold hearings instead of make hollow threats and promises on Fox News. I have zero faith in Graham to do anything he has promised because he has done NOTHING to this point other than make promises.
Graham would do well to hold a single hearing and invite one person..... Devin Nunes, who cannot hold a hearing in the house as he is in the minority. He would do well to schedule a second hearing and request that Peter Schweizer appear to discuss what he found in his own book. Based on that, he can schedule Rudy to appear and put his cards on the table instead of teasing them as a follow-up to Schweizer.
Based on his history, Graham will not do any of this because he is part of the cover-up and I will no longer be fooled by him. I would love for him to prove me wrong, but I doubt he will.
Trump is no dummy and he has to be ticked off. I bet he sees the game Lindsey is playing just as we do. Trump is going to have to do the calculation above and I hope he follows his instincts and ATTACKS.
I used to prepare reports for a city council. The city manager had such a low opinion of his council members that he instructed me to restrict my reports to one page ("that's the most they can comprehend"). Once I ran over and had a one and a quarter page report. He made me rewrite it.
I found it hilarious that he would swear at and berate his council behind their backs ("that drunken SOB wouldn't know his ___ from his elbow"), etc. But when he talked to them directly, he pretended to worship the ground they walked on. Maybe because his job and salary depended on their acceptance.
When I used to work proposals to be presented we would use that Microsoft Word feature to grade the documents. Had to be no more than ninth grade for submittal for government work.
The republicans have 24 hours total to make their case. The house mangers presented their case with a 2 to 3 hour endless loop until time expired. I suspect Trump's lawyers will make better use of their time. I doubt they will even use all 24 hours allotted to them.
The President's defense team did an excellent job of going point by point through the House impeachment manager's case, pointing out all of the information that was previously omitted, and suggesting that the Senators ask themselves "why wasn't I told that before? I think it was smart to limit their opening session to two hours. By doing so, the Senators did not glaze over and tune out what was being said, unlike the Democrat's marathon sessions last week. Also, by doing their presentation on Saturday, hopefully more of the public watched the proceedings and are now asking themselves the same questions about all of the omissions and misrepresentations by the Democrats.
The dried up a senator from Maryland said afterward to Cavuto that Ive been taking detailed notes but I want to see documents and witnesses. I about fell out of my chair laughing.
“I thought he was just speaking slowly so the esteemed spinators could understand and keep up.”
i thought he took it slow for any LIVs that might be watching ..
