The virus, the Novel Coronavirus, began infecting people in Wuhan, China in December. There are now 1,307 cases worldwide and 41 dead. (1,287 of the cases are in China.) Numerous Chinese cities with a total population of over 30 million people are under full or partial lockdowns to help stop the spread of the virus. The first China virus case has been confirmed in Australia, and there are now two cases in the US and three in France

so of the thousands infected, 98 percent have survived or are recovering?
Sounds like we will be able to treat it, since 98 of those infected have generated effective antibodies... that could perhaps be harvested and replicated.
That’s 3% mortality rate which is actually less than the average everyday flu. What’s with all the hype?

I think the avg mortality rate for regular flu is not 3%, but 0.1 %. Aand how easily spread by infected patients is another huge factor. Apples and oranges.

I know. It started when I was trying to get some dinner and feed the kitties. I just hope the world’s leaders will finally realize that this virus is real and it’s spreading. Not that fast, but with no known cure or vaccine, it’ll continue to spread. I like that Steve is on top of the story.
Exactly. And it’s not the flu. This virus presents as pneumonia which really weakens the immune system in those who get it.
Flu mortality was 6.7% last week...2000 died of flu or flu-related pneumonia in a week.
