Link above to he latest situation report from WHO.
Note, confirmed cases is a subset of those who get infected. Not everyone runs to the doc for a case of the sniffles.
Based on populations and transmission rates the infected population is estimated around 4000. Confirmed cases near 600 with about 4% of those being fatal.

Use of the word "exported" was interesting.

Maybe it’s just a WHO/CDC fundraising event. /sarc
Chinese population is somewhere around 1.4 billion all in...
So this many cases is an indicator of infection ratios and trust me that many people dying their under other circumstances is not gonna cause a stir
Now the Virus impacting a food source like the herds of pigs that were dying, that will
People and labor are cheap there and replacements are plenty. Crowded cities and a viral infection is something they are watching and figuring out what to do next as they have almost 5 times our population.
Watching closely, if they start restricting flights, in and out access etc. then watch for stuff to get real in this humpty dumpty
God will not be mocked...
In the case of the Spanish Flu, the first outbreak was rather mild but the 2nd outbreak was the killer.
Didnt the Spanish Flu and the Black Plague both originate in China?
I’d say this is a perfect time to shut our borders.

Europe. Hence the name Spanish Flu although it originated in France
The elderly and the very young are most susceptible.
If that 4% was significantly higher, it would be cause for a lot more alarm.
In China 4% would be over 50 million dead.
China is fast running out of the test kits so the numbers quite possibly will be wrong.
How many test kits does the US have ready? We’re only hearing about major cities with a significant Asian population so would a rural doctor pick up on it?
See post #8
NYC and NJ drug stores are sold out of masks, per FoxBiz report, a few minutes ago.
Uh, no.
If every person in China came down with it, news ways to treat it were not successful, and the percentages held static, that is true.
If everyone in the country was infected. Whos saying that?
Nobody’s saying that, Stupid.
Is anyone saying that it’s contained?
I just pointed out that 4% mortality scales up in china.
You draw your own contusions.
Yeah, I wasn’t predicting that 4% of china would die.
My comment was that 4% mortality, even amonk known cases is not a trivial number.
At 4%, the figure of deceased would be 56 million in the discussion we’re having.
That means 1.344 billion would have survived.
