The Naval Station Great Lakes has gone on lock down on Friday morning as authorities warn of a 'gate runner.'
The station, located in a North Chicago suburb, shared a short message on their Facebook telling people to 'hide' or 'fight.'

Thats the 2nd time In a couple/few years at CC NAS. (I have a friend who works on base there).
In Patton's day, Soldiers could be armed. Not so anymore. You may as well tell a group of teachers to fight first.
The senior officers try hard to avoid things that are career-enders. Currently, having somebody under their command shooting somebody without total justification, is considered a career-ending incident, so the incentive is to disarm everybody.
Change the incentive structure.
Every time something like this happens, and the base had nobody armed to stop it, then dismiss the entire command structure. Take the organizational chart, and nuke it from orbit.
doesn’t matter officers are not on gate guard duty
:)
“Not everyone is a soldier.”
No, those at Great Lakes are sailors! They are also in the military, and should be capable of fighting.
Run, hide.
Well it is the Navy.
What do you expect?
It s not been dubbed forever as Great Mistakes for nothing.
Its where the Navy has been sending screwups to play CO for years.
I hope someones keeping watch at our military recruiting stations.
These are mostly non-coms, but your question still holds. Why are military personnel on Guard Duty not armed?!
Daily Mail doesn’t break news like this.
All these terrorists jerks have to do is go to China and then spread that damn virus everywhere.
Oh wait, traveling Chinese are already doing that.
Read there is a biological lab that made this virus in that province.
When I was there, every recruit had a 1903 Springfield with no firing pin.
“Run, Hide, Fight” is being taught at a lot of companies today. Our company did it recently, with members of the Dallas Police Department giving the talk.

Funny you should mention that. I taught for many years in an urban school. Well, one day an armed criminal entered the building. The school police were called. But they are not armed (gotta be politically correct).
I had 30 kids in my room. So I had already shut and locked my classroom door. And I stood next to the door with a heavy club. Meanwhile, there were all these unarmed school police running around the hallways. With my club, I was the best-armed employee in the building!
Postscript: They armed city police eventually showed up, and they cleared the building. It turns out that the criminal went in one door and then out another. He was long gone.
Security is tight there.......
.....I dont why everyone is acting like it isnt.
Do we believe everything from Daily Mail?......or anything?
I believed the entrances to gates on bases have been realigned so that someone cannot run the gate. A couple of tight curves and barriers were placed before the gate to prevent this from happening.
