In the ongoing investigation of the murder of an innocent couple during a Houston no-knock raid, two police officers have been indicted by a Harris County Grand Jury.
On 28 January, 2019, a no-knock raid was executed at 7815 Harding Street, the residence of a longtime married couple of modest means, Dennis Tuttle and his wife of twenty years, Rhogena Nicholas. Neither of the couple had any significant police record.Dennis Tuttle and Rhogena Nicholas were the victims.
After the police broke down the door and shot the family dog, Dennis Tuttle fired back in defense. It was claimed he wounded four police officers with a .357 magnum revolver; that claim is uncertain because of how the crime scene evidence was collected.
Many police claims about the raid were disputed early. Investigations by Harris County, the Houston P.D., the FBI and a private forensics firm have been ongoing.
The Harris County District Attorney, Kim Ogg, announced felony charges and arrests of retired officers Gerald Goines and Steven Bryant of the Houston Police Department in August, 2019. The two officers were described as partners. Both retired two months after the Harding Street Raid, while the investigations were ongoing.
The Harris County DA took the unusual step of arresting the accused before a grand jury investigation.
On 15 January, 2020, the Harris County Grand Jury returned indictments for former officers Gerald Goines and Steven Bryant. Goines for felony murder and tampering with documents, Bryant for tampering with documents.

It has taken them a year. A whole damn year to finally indict these assholes?
Pathetic.
“We’ll keep having grand juries until they get it right!”
This behavior by LEO will likely mimic the future gun confiscation process when the rats take over, again!
this is so frikkin ridiculous, they should all be on Death Row already awaiting Execution.
If you and I knock off a 7 11 and you shoot and kill someone in the process we both are charged with that murder.

It is beyond simple to Identify crooked law enforcement on Free Republic. Crooked in the same way and to the same degree we have seen law enforcement agencies are with the Trump Coup.
What am I talking about?
Its really simple.
Marie Harf could understand it.
Swat Teams were sold as being for Hostage situations only.
And anyone defending their use for anything else is what Comey is.
The grand jury will return the indictments the DA wants. Don’t direct your anger at the GJ, direct it where it should be, at the DA.
And Police Chief Art Assholeveda still has a job...
The only drugs found were the "plants" in one of the squad cars.
I found two articles that mentioned Mr. Tuttle was shot through a window as he lay dying on the floor, 30 minutes after the gunfight. I can't find these anymore.
None of of this would have been known, except by the efforts of private investigators hired by the family.
Fits what I saw back in the 70’s. BIL was a cop. Showed me his throw-down gun, wrapped in Saran Wrap. All the cops had one in their cruiser to plant if they were forced to shoot someone. Told me he was developing the “cop attitude” and was quitting. Explained that everyone who wan’t a cop was a “perp”, including me. You were either a criminal or were going to commit a crime.
I know the indicted cops claimed that, but has it been established? Last I read there was no .357 revolver on the evidence list.
Judges need to be held accountable also. These open warrants to be used whenever they like without the judge even needing to sign off on each and every case individually based on both probable cause and EVIDENCE should take full responsibility.
If they signed it, they own it lock, stock, and barrel. If they are used wrongly... too bad, should not have done it then.
They’ve been arrested and indicted for “Tampering with Documents “?
What say you FISC in regards to FISA’s ?
Until we end judicial supremacy and make judges liable the way everyone else is, we have an out of control branch that can’t begin to deliver justice.
Man was also a great shot. God rest him.
Yup. Agreed. There should be one or 2 of these things in each state. That will cover all the appropriate uses of them. For larger states, like Texas, you might need a few regional ones, as travel time would be excessive, even by plane, but there really isn't much need at all for SWAT teams. They should all be disbanded, and their toys sold to the public.
Where public law first started... The Code of Hammurabi:
5. If a judge try a case, reach a decision, and present his judgment in writing; if later error shall appear in his decision, and it be through his own fault, then he shall pay twelve times the fine set by him in the case, and he shall be publicly removed from the judge’s bench, and never again shall he sit there to render judgement.

It's probable that *no* drugs were found (despite media claims) in this bust because Goines was physically unable to fetch them from the cruiser and plant them, because of his gunshot wounds.
I believe (without evidence) that Tuttle's 357 revolver was also a plant, and that he was unarmed, and that the "gunfight" was actually a fratricidal three-ring circus triggered by the gunshot that killed the dog.
I don't think this was a mistake. It reeks of malice, as if the narcs had some axe to grind with the Tuttles.
Now this is just sheer speculation, but it could have been something as simple as an altercation with an ordinary patrolman, who got the narcs involved in settling his score.
