Emerging data on the new virus circulating in China adds to evidence there is sustained human-to-human transmission in the city of Wuhan, and that a single case was able to ignite a chain of other infections.
The World Health Organization reported Thursday that there have been at least four generations of spread of the new virus, provisionally called 2019-nCoV, meaning a person who contracted the virus from a non-human source presumably an animal has infected a person, who infected another person, who then infected another person.
Its not clear from a WHO statement whether transmission petered out after that point, or whether further generations of cases from those chains are still to come.
The WHO said the current estimate of the reproductive rate of the virus the number of people, on average, that each infected person infects is between 1.4 and 2.5. To stop an outbreak, the reproduction number has to be brought below one.

“has infected a person, who infected another person, who then infected another person”
Unlike the flu, where a one big fat virus infects everyone at the same time.
Sheesh.
I don’t know. I think this post is worthy of somebody posting the little stick guys running around screaming.
Uh, you're saying it's too soon to go cannibal? Asking for a friend.
If like becoming zombies, the end of the world has arrived ten years early.
Sorry Greta, when Captain Trips is knocking at your door, I dont give a rip about climate change.
Save it for someone who cares.
Coincidence?
When youre a flesh eating mutant, youre a devolved Democrat.
Wuhan is the site of a major infectious disease lab. Could possibly be a Biological Warfare lab.
Brings to mind the 1970’s British SciFi TV show “Survivors”. It’s on YouTube.
“Isnt there at least one case here in the USA, in Washington State?”
Maybe one now in CA and one in Texas
With a 14 day incubation period, nobody knows how many are infected, much less how to control it.
While they suspect it’s transmitted via respiration, there’s no certainty at this point. But the recent pressure is on surface sanitation.
If this virus is hearty for hours or even days on doorknobs etc., the 14 day incubation makes this quarantine the only possible means of stopping it’s spread outside the region.
Which would have to be followed by thorough sanitation.
I would not want to be in Wuhan right now. It may be a while before anyone gets out.
Is that from the movie Contagion?
That movie really stayed with me, and not in a good way.
As Ive said on some other threads, my in-laws in China say that many are sick, that the news or their government is reporting almost nothing compared to what they see.
Considering that it is airborne now, apartment air handling is going to be infected in those giant complexes there, driving the numbers very quickly.
Very small number of hospital beds per each city compared to population, combined with the complete lack of private practices there. If you are sick or have any need for medical care, you go to the hospital in China, take a number, and wait. Doesnt matter if you have a runny nose or a stroke or heart attack.
This has the ability to run over their health system within the next few days.
As for quarantine of cities, EVERY road has gates, with PLA soldiers. When they close a city, its closed, period. Business is thankfully shit down there all this week for the holiday, next week too now. Or longer.
I just hope it doesnt mutate and become more lethal. Most deaths are elderly, but try to imagine losing your parents right now.

Perfect scenario/excuse for ISOLATION/EXTERMINATION via CRIMINAL STATE POWER CENTERS around the world.
Agreed. BTTT.
The virus could not survive the amount of time involved in ground (sea) shipment. But 2 or 3 day shipment? Yes.
Where in China are they?
Good find. Its quite the coincidence.
FR investigative reporting at its finest. Thanks
Another maybe in Texas.
