Sekulow indicates White House not interested in motion to dismiss impeachment articles

Jay Sekulow, President Trump's personal lawyer, signaled on Wednesday that the White House will not try to dismiss the impeachment case against his client.

Sekulow said he's not interested in making a motion to dismiss because the impeachment case is "ridiculous."

"I want to let them try their case, and we want to try our case, because we believe without a question the president will be acquitted," he told reporters. "There is not a doubt.

"Those of you who know me know I don't rule out anything ... the way the procedures are set up, at this point, here's what I believe is going to happen: it looks like they're going to spend tomorrow and Friday. And then I suspect that we'll start on Saturday and then we'll go probably another day or two," Sekulow continued, when asked if he was ruling out the motion to dismiss.

The indication from Trump's legal team that they will not try to dismiss the articles comes after Senate Republicans did not include a built-in motion to dismiss in their rules resolution. The Clinton rules, unlike the current resolution, included language to force a motion to dismiss after opening arguments and questions from senators.

So much for having to follow the Clinton impeachment rules. Seems that was just beltway flim flam subterfuge all along.

I think Sekulow may be a pretty decent poker player.

The presidents lawyers see something other than this case. Oh they’ll destroy the impeachment case against the POTUS alright, but what do they see? A huge pile of book sales.

Thats OK with me. As long as they include the sordid details that we all might not yet know of what the scum democrats have been up to behind the scenes.

Problem is, that would be an open invitation for little Mittens or Susan to play the dramatic starring role of Decider. Screw it, try the case and don’t give them the chance.

We really have no choice, as IIRC we do not have the votes to just dismiss.

If Trump’s lawyers both Sekulow and Cippolone can perform another encore or two of their lambasting shredding the DemoRat skunks then all power to them.

Its worthwhile to reflect on the fact that Donald Trump is fully aware of all of the documents that DOJ, FBI , CIA and dept of State are hiding, slow walking and using secrecy to stone wall production

Trump has not forced the issue and ordered their declassification and release, but he can do it any time he so chooses

I suspect his legal team is fully up to speed on their content

Trump holds most of the cards and all of the face cards, aces and wild cards

He can choose the time and place he reveals them and he does not need Congressional approval nor does he have to limit the venue to the impeachment trial

The charges are so completely bogus one way to proceed would be to reject them now.

I, for one, have been totally enjoying Schiff making a monkey out of himself. The press can spin all they want, but this charlatan is on live tv, and there’s nothing they can do to keep him from contradicting himself, portraying himself as the definition of pomposity, and just being the kind of guy that everyone knows, and can’t stand. The twerp who always had money, was smart, and who had that sniveling, back-stabbing, brown-nose personality. So, give ‘em plenty of line, and let them run with it, I say.

It has been my opinion that President Trump sees impeachment as the worlds biggest WWF grudge match with the entire worlds attention so focused on the event that it cannot hope to turn away.

He can speak directly to over a billion people and there is no was the media can cut him off. Or drown him out

Over one trillion dollars of prime time media attention locked down and his for the taking

A dream come true tor a guy like Trump and he did not need to spend a penny for it or waste precious staff assets to set this stage up for him

It’s not enough to acquit the president. We must ecpose sham “investigation” and shame the investigators.

I want to see the full blown Durham investigation materials and Indictments.

If Biden is charged, that justifies all of Trumps push toward an investigation.

These next couple of months should be very interesting.

Sekulow knows a motion to dismiss would create four serious problems for McConnell: Cory Gardner, Thom Tillis, Martha McSally, and Susan Collins...
