The Trump administration on Wednesday approved a right-of-way allowing the Keystone XL oil sands pipeline to be built across U.S. land, pushing the controversial $8 billion project closer to construction though court challenges still loom.
The approval signed by Interior Secretary David Bernhardt and obtained by The Associated Press covers 46 miles (74 kilometers) of the pipelines route across land in Montana thats controlled by the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, said Casey Hammond, assistant secretary of the Interior Department.
Those segments of federal land are a small fraction of the pipelines 1,200-mile (1,930-kilometer) route, but the right-of-way was crucial for a project thats obtained all the needed permits at the state and local levels.
The pipeline would transport up to 830,000 barrels (35 million gallons) of crude oil daily from western Canada to terminals on the U.S. Gulf Coast.
Project sponsor TC Energy said in a court filing that it wants to begin construction on the U.S.-Canada border crossing in Montana in April. Opponents promised to challenge those plans in court.

Lay Pipe Lay!
DemonicRATS promised to challenge those plans in court.
There. Fixed it.
This Keystone battle has been going on for close to 10 years.
I thought Canada gave up waiting for the US to drop it’s restrictions.
Right now, Canada is flop sweating because it’s a race against time.
Tar Sands oil is dirty and expensive. US frack oil is has become cheaper to produce and is cleaner/easier to process at the refineries (aka: lite sweet crude).
If Canada can’t get that pipeline built in time, the US refinery system will be tooled exclusively for light sweet crude and won’t be able to commingle with tar sands oil.
Yay!
Drill baby Drill!
Ping.
Drill Baby, Drill! :D
Lay Pipe Lay!

Yep, lay pipe Baby, lay pipe!
Excellent. Push it through the courts quickly.
I hope the Kenyan reads this as he enjoys his plunder in the Hamptons and pulls out a cigarette and is furious.
This strikes me as a big deal.
Lay, Pipey, lay
Lay across my big steel rack
Stay, Pipey, stay
Stay with your man awhile
Until the break of day, let me see ya’ make him smile
His clothes are oily but his, his hands are clean
And you're the best thing that he's ever seen
Layin that Pipe across the green.
It’s funny that Trump signed this on the day little snot-nosed Thuneburg gave her speech about ending all oil development.
She is such a non-entity.
In a year she’ll be a speed-bump on the road to oblivion.
This small victory exhibits exactly what Trump has talked about: We are self-hamstrung in getting needed infrastructure (etc.) built because of all the regs, permits needed, environmental studies, court challenges, and so on. I’m willing to bet this knocks a couple % off our GDP growth.
This just in! I have heard that Greta has been admitted to a local hospital with a terminal case of the vapors!
