DC Suit Claims Inaugural Spending Enriched Trumps

Donald Trump’s inaugural committee spent more than $1 million to book a ballroom at the Trump International Hotel in the nation's capital as part of a scheme to “grossly overpay” for party space and enrich the president's own family in the process, according to a lawsuit filed Wednesday.

The District of Columbia's attorney general, Karl Racine, said the committee misused nonprofit funds and coordinated with the hotel’s management and members of the Trump family to arrange the events. He said one of the event’s planners raised concerns about pricing with Trump, the president's daughter Ivanka Trump and Rick Gates, a top campaign official at the time.

“District law requires nonprofits to use their funds for their stated public purpose, not to benefit private individuals or companies,” Racine said. “In this case, we are seeking to recover the nonprofit funds that were improperly funneled directly to the Trump family business.”

It was the latest allegation that Trump and his family have used public and nonprofit funds spent at Trump-owned properties to enrich themselves — part of the peril of Trump not fully withdrawing from his businesses while he is president. Trump has maintained ownership but turned the reins over to his adult sons, who have bristled at the charge that they are profiting off their father’s presidency.

The committee has maintained that its finances were independently audited, and that all money was spent in accordance with the law. The committee raised an unprecedented $107 million to host events celebrating Trump’s inauguration in January 2017. But the committee's spending has drawn mounting scrutiny.

Prosecutors found that Gates, a former Trump campaign aide, personally managed discussions with the hotel about using the space, including ballrooms and meeting rooms.

Oh, good. After this, do the Clinton Foundation.

More BS from the Democrat Fascist Party clown show. The Inauguration committee paid to throw a lavish party. That what the money is donated for.

These idiots are getting desperate. They’re now investigating the costs of a ballroom?

Costs that taxpayers did not pay?

He donates his $400,000 salary to charity. So even if this had a smidgen of truth to it, so what?

Pathetic...a million dollars to DJT is like a hundred bucks to us. The low-intelligence Democrats look like a bunch of chattering monkeys, scrabbling in the dirt to try to find peanuts as the circus is leaving town.

This is going nowhere. They know it’s going nowhere. This is just more harassment. And, the harassment will never cease. Not even after the president leaves office. The left will harass him all the days of his life for having the temerity to run against them and win.
And, to send a message to any other private citizen who may think about emulating President Trump to think long and hard about what they will do to any private citizen who dares to take them on.

Racine is one of the “progressive” DAs/State’s Attorney Generals, etc.. He works in a Marxist wolfpack with Maryland’s Marxist SAG Brian Frosch and Virginia’s hardcore Marxist/fascist (he swings both ways) Mark “RED” Herring.

Racine also acts like the NY State’s AG (Lewis?), a raging leftist woman and California’s Marxist AG Becerra.

Many of them received aid from George Soros front operations during their recent elections. We need a complete investigation of this KAPO’s interference in state and local elections. SOROS can beat any Russian interference any day.

A million for a ballroom rental, however peak the day and time does sound excessive.

And with the exception of Grifter Kushner, any Trump action is a speck compared to the massive corruption of the Clintons, Obamas, Bidens, etc.

What a crock.

The best choice for Trump’s bottom line would have been to not run for president.

It has cost him plenty!

He does it all for us...for 1 dollar/yr

Wow, this kind of thing never happens. I can understand why he's so upset.

LMAO

Misuse? The funds were donated for this express purpose.

This wasn't a flop house, renting by the half hour.

I would need to know a few things:

How big the ballroom is

How many people attended

Car services like valet parking/garage space

coat check

open bar

how many service people

type of food served

deserts, appetizers, etc

guest rooms that were paid for as well

security staff

security equipment etc

A million dollars isn’t that much if this party had a big guest list and was done to the 9’s

Quick - run the evidence over to the Senate and present it to Shifty - he’ll be glad to have something to hang his hat on when everything else is stripped out from under him!

Impeachment #2 coming right up! When the president is acquitted of this nonsense, they will begin all over again. Does anyone doubt it? I sure don’t!

I’m reading Don Jr.’s book “Triggered” and apparently Nadler has had it in for the president since back in the “old” days when he sought federal funding for a project in a blighted area in Nadler’s neighborhood. It would have improved his district immeasurably and yet because of a grudge against Donald Trump, he would not approve the funds.

I wish the president WOULD attend the trial and wouldn’t it be great if he was allowed to question the goons that call themselves “House managers”?

D.C.! The Nation's bastion for honesty and the absence of corruption...

One could almost say this suit is like "the pot calling the kettle black"... However, I won't "say" that here... In fact, I will not even "think" it...
