They had more than enough time to gather whatever documents, evidence, witness testimony they needed to bring to the Senate. And on top of it, Pelosi held onto the Articles, and thought she'd play "let's make a deal." Schiff was a U.S. Attorney. He prosecuted cases. You're supposed to be prepared. You don't go to trial with flimsy evidence, then ask the Judge for a postponement so you can go out and dig up more dirt. These people are insane.

lots of 53-47 party-line votes so far ... it’s what i expected because it’s the only way the GOP can survive: the GOP Senate *HAS* to stick together to demonstrate that the Dem impeachment is nothing but a partisan hack job, AND in no way can the GOP Senate allow even the tinest little crack for the Dems to wedge their way into turning their partisan farce into a trial that becomes an unlimited circus of bullshit that drags on for months ... it’s like cutting out a cancerous tumor: you don’t wait before you cut it out, and you cut it out cleanly and completely so it won’t come back to haunt you ...
