Anger over new no-bail law killing LI Dems but progressives don’t care
New York Post ^ | January 19, 2020 | Seth Barron

Bail “reform” has triggered a massive wave of revulsion across New York, as judges are forced to return serious offenders to the streets within hours of arrest, only to see them commit new crimes within days. Public anger threatens to split Democratic lawmakers, many of whom may face significant ballot challenges in November.

The cases are legion. Jordan Randolph, for example, was busted on New Year’s Day for harassment and tampering with an ignition-lock device. Less than two weeks after he was released, he drove drunk and killed Jonathan Flores-Maldonado — and was immediately released again.

(It eventually turned out Randolph could have been required to post bail or sit in jail, because he was already on probation — but the new law’s complexities confused both systems.)

“We are getting crushed,” said one senior staffer for a Democratic state senator based outside of New York City. “People are furious. We are getting call after call, and it is the same thing with all the other offices. … We’re getting clobbered.”

But not every senator is worried about the backlash. Dems hold 40 out of 63 seats, and 25 of those represent the Big Apple, where the loudest public voices scream for bail reform. Very few of these officials have to worry about November, because their deep-blue districts haven’t elected a Republican in decades. Their only concern is a primary challenge from the left, which they can avoid by parroting the line that last year’s reforms promote justice.

Referring to the case of Kalief Browder — a convicted car thief who was arrested for the strongarm robbery of a Mexican immigrant — state Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins defended bail reform on NY1:

Far-left Democrats may safe for now in big cities, but we need to pick them off in other areas when they pass ridiculous laws.

From a distance it appears that the vast majority of New Yorkers are too stupid to tie effect to cause. Therefore, they will happily vote Democrat and wrap themselves in the smug that comes from feeling so superior.

This is a variation on California in the late seventies. Mass murderers and rapists everywhere, and Rose Bird’s supreme court sending them all to Atascadero and letting them out. Bronson’s “Death Wish Two” was a representation of that.

Finally, California voters denied Brown a senate seat, tossed Bird and two of her comrades, and elected George Deukmajian as governor.

The leftist LIB politicians and government “workers” want no bail because they fear they are soon to be arrested for their ongoing perfidy. It is merely a move of self-preservation for these criminal oafs.

“judges are forced to return serious offenders to the streets within hours of arrest, only to see them commit new crimes within days.”

Until those perps start attacking the folks in charge of those cities, nothing will change.

The history of the bail system goes back to Richard the Third. Now to be sure, Richard the Third might have killed his nephews, but he was considered a pretty good monarch with the people in his day.

Now, the scum sucking democrats even want to slander the history of the bail. We are seeing the same propaganda of the Tudors today, against judicial systems that were put into place by historical leaders.

The Tudors, were a tyrannical bunch. The same will happen if the new national socialist democrat party of America gains complete control here.

their deep-blue districts haven’t elected a Republican in decades.

One grimly wonders how much blood no-bailed savages will have to spill before that changes.

The far-left Democrats just twist things around, to get their constituents to believe that these crimes are caused by Trump and his policies, and the actual perpetrators are victims.

If a guy was driving drunk, that’s because he was depressed and driven to drink by Trump’s hateful bias and rhetoric.

If a guy feels compelled to rob a bank, that’s because Trump cut off his family’s food stamps and his children were hungry.

If some people attack Jews, that’s because they are feeling frustrated by poverty and Trump is stirring up an atmosphere of hate in the country.

The proper response is “don’t lock people up because they are too poor to afford bail” but defeat Trump and selfish, greedy Republicans.

That’s what I am hearing from my NYC Council member and N.Y. State Assembly representative. My N.Y. Senator is silent on the issue, and I only hear from him when it comes to gay and transgender issues or why Placido Domingo should be permanently expunged from the roster of the Metropolitan Opera.

as judges are forced to return serious offenders to the streets

Leftist judges typically ignore laws they don't like. What is forcing them to follow this law?

I keep thinking about The Godfather.

I know it's fiction, of course.

The local folk knew where to go for justice, and it wasn't the cops - it was to Don Corleone.

Yeah, right, fiction. But there's an opportunity here, and I'm not the only one who sees it.

The idea isn’t to win votes, it’s to spread chaos. It’s a revolutionary tactic, not an election strategy.

It’s a ridiculous narrative, but they stick to it. The GOP, on the other hand, has many competing narratives within its own ranks, and rarely presents a unified story for public consumption.
