Man fatally stabbed in South Sacramento bank parking lot — deputies arrest homeless man

Relatives of an 18-year-old south Sacramento man who was allegedly stabbed to death by a homeless man in a bank parking lot say they’re struggling to cope with the senseless, random brutality of it all.

Deputies arrested a “known transient in the area,” who’d apparently gotten into an argument with the victims, Deterding said. The suspect had never met the victims before, she said.

Locally young pregnant woman leaving her house to go to work was stabbed to death by a homeless man last month. I will exercise more caution from now on when approached by a panhandler.

The Homeless is out of control up and down the whole damned State.

I'd say Oakland has given up completely.

The undersides of major freeways (check out 33rd and Telegraph) are now thick with tents, you can't even walk safely there.

Beautiful Mossword Park, at Broadway and MacArthur, is now completely taken over by the homeless and has been fenced off. (Ironically, the old Kaiser Permanente Hospital directly across the street has been completely demolished and replaced by a fenced-off park that looks like it will be hosting a pond of some sort.)

Saw some homeless people screaming at each other on College Ave. right across from the Safeway (College @ Alcatraz).

Situational awareness is, of course, important. But I think at least part of the answer for individuals is quality pepper spray. Have it at the ready. I like the Fox brand. The last time I checked, pepper spray was legal in all 50 states (although some states have a size limit).

Don't conflate homeless people, who truly lost their homes through catastrophic life situations, job loss, whatever, with VAGRANTS, DRUG ADDICTS, BUMS AND LOSERS.
