Warren and Bernie are going to love hearing that. Iowa caucuses on 3 February.
Dismissing it as meritless takes no time at all.
I don’t believe there will be witnesses.
The Rat’s faces will be rubbed raw with their own crap and it will be over with pretty quickly.
Democrats look at it as 8 weeks more robbed from the Trump administration.
Especially on Judges.
The longer the merrier. And I think the MSM would love it for ad revenue. :)
What a waste of time for the Senate not only on America’s dime but displacing America”s priorities.
Why stop The Greatest Show on Earth? Bring in the clowns.
How much fundraising can be done from the Senate floor?
When this nonsense is all over, I think this can create major campaign issues for Trump and Republicans.
A key thing could be how the Democrats accomplish nothing in power. They won the 2018 midterms, wanting to work on education and healthcare and infrastructure , but when we give Democrats power, all they did was impeach the president.
What the heck do Democrats stand for, anyway? Open borders , global warming, shoving LGBT transgendered bathrooms down our throats?
And because all the other candidates are tied up with a trial it would be so heroic for Michelle Obama to come in and out of desperation and out of altruism to take the nomination. You could say the same thing about Hillary Clinton. Oh no I must be crazy thinking such bastards thoughts.
N more judges confirmed in that time period.
How many judicial seats have a vacancy?
I’ve already started stirring the pot on DU w my “burner” accounts. In 2016, I convinced students that Killary was going to win by a landslide and we need to vote Stein or Johnson to send the DNC a msg for “Burnin’ the Bern”.
I’m going to do a similar pot stirring theme, that impeachment is the DNC’s way of rigging the primary of Warren and Bernie, so Killary can run against PDJT.
Mid-August sounds good or maybe after Labor Day.
Make the donkeys swear and sweat.
Either no witnesses or every witness in the phone book. No in between.
Mitch could have Saturday sessions to vote on judges.
The SOTU address on Feb. 4 will be must-watch tv.
It was a very good sign that in its official response letter, the White House formally characterized the impeachment as ....a partisan attempt to overturn the 2016 election...
With this language, the White House is making a formal declaration that it considers this politically motivated impeachment to be just one part of a broader ongoing partisan attack against the President, that extends well beyond the issue of Ukraine quid pro quo.
The White House is putting the Senate on notice that this broader partisan attempt to overturn the 2016 election (read: deep state coup attempt) will be central to its defense case.
With that as a backdrop, it will be impossible for the Senate to refuse White House witness requests while allowing House Democrat witnesses requests on the basis of relevancy to the Ukrainian bribery allegations. That means the Senate will grant both sides their requests, or hear no witnesses from either side.
Note: The White House may not be quite ready to actually call this four year long conspiracy against President Trump a deep state coup attempt, but the language they used comes very, very close, and that is very, very good news.
If the Senate hears no witnesses (most likely) then it will mean a quick dismissal. A big win for the President. If both sides allowed to call witnesses (which I would prefer), perhaps some good will come from this impeachment travesty and the White House will use the forum to make their case, as outlined in the letter of response.
The White House defense team drafted that letter, but it does NOT sound at all defensive - they are making the case that President Trump has been framed.
8 Weeks?? Screw You how about 8 Months.
