Amazing. I knew it was bad, but I had no idea they were that methodical about their shoplifting.

The only thing the merchants can do is lock everything up. It’s so depressing to go into a local store and see everything displayed with electronic buzzers attached or locked to the shelves. Not to mention that the costs of security and “shrinkage” are killing stores.

“Amazing. I knew it was bad, but I had no idea they were that methodical about their shoplifting.”

I can remember in the 70s when I lived in the Bay Area. Organized shoplifters would have trunk sales on street corners— literally out of the trunks of their cars— of stolen goods with store price tags still on them.

I was once approached by a guy carrying a stereo speaker under each arm. When I told him no, he opened up his trenchcoat & he had a bunch of lacy brassieres pinned to the linings.
But these guys were very few and only in a couple of locations. Probably at every flea market now, off the charts.

OTOH, now you could probably just steal stuff back from the thieves. What they gonna do, call the cops?
