FBI Arrests Suspected White Supremacists Before Virginia Gun Rally
WSJ ^ | 1/16/2020 | Jon Kamp and Scott Calvert

Federal authorities arrested three men allegedly linked to a violent white-supremacist group who had discussed traveling to a pro-gun rally Monday in Richmond, Va., and preparing for a possible race war, according to a law-enforcement official.

Two of the men, one a former Canadian Army reservist in the U.S. illegally, face charges including transporting a firearm and ammunition with intent to commit a felony, according to the U.S. attorney’s office in Maryland. One was also charged with transporting a machine gun, and the third man was charged with transporting and harboring an illegal alien.

Online court records didn’t list attorneys for any of the men. They are scheduled to appear Thursday afternoon in federal court in Greenbelt, Md.

Virginia authorities are preparing for thousands of people to attend a pro-gun rally Monday at the state Capitol. On Wednesday, Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam temporarily banned firearms from the Capitol grounds, citing law-enforcement concerns about weaponized drones and armed militias.

Rally organizers are responding to gun-control bills Democratic lawmakers have aimed to pass since they won control after November elections over both chambers of the state Legislature. Several bills have cleared committees since lawmakers convened last week, including one to expand background checks for gun purchases and a red-flag measure to disarm people deemed dangerous.

The three men arrested Thursday are members of white supremacist group “the Base,” authorities said. Members in encrypted chat rooms have discussed topics like creating a “white entho-state,” ways to make improvised-explosive devices and violence against African-Americans and Jewish Americans, a Federal Bureau of Investigation special agent said in an affidavit filed in court.

White supremacist groups like the Base also discuss “accelerationism,” a concept that refers to a desire to speed up the collapse of modern society, according to the Anti-Defamation League...

Fake news

I’m sure the arrest is true - but the reasoning and motivation are purely faked. This is very suspiciously Soviet-style propaganda.

Totalitarianism has come to the US

"Right on time, they arrest a “prime suspect” to support the emergency"

Funny how that happens.

Funny, before the FBI and CIA are purged of obvious “bad cops” similar to Comey,Brennan and McCabe, we are supposed to treat them all like James Stewart in the FBI Story. Except they are self-serving and dishonest.

Soon “Although only on Facebook since early this week, the suspects have a huge history of white supremacist and pro-Trump material being studied by the FBI. A neighbor told a friend who was interviewed by the FBI they kept to themselves but people felt uneasy about them somehow.”

Sounds like some real geniuses.

Not a clue how to maintain operational security.

Remember that the FBI is the law enforcement arm of the Democratic Party.

It sure as hell seems that way in large measure.

I find the responses here very curious. On one hand we get the "enforce the current gun laws!" posts all the time. Yet here, the feds enforce a number of current gun laws and people are crying foul.

These guys are legit neo-Nazis who made a fully automatic rifle, shot it, and transported it across state lines. They literally broke the very laws FReepers call on for more enforcement. Very strange responses here.

They were part of some arch-fascist, racist militia with a funny name like the Anteefuh Army.

I wonder how much evidence the FBI had to fabricate on this one.

A lot of it is just that the people have lost faith in the FBI after what’s happened over the last few years.

OK. Forgive me if I don’t believe the FBI.

These sound like the stereotypical false-flagging boogeymen that the left salivates about.

“A machine gun?
Really?”

Remember, now a days a machine gun is any semi auto with the shoe lace option.

Indeed.

It almost sounds like the one guy was attention-whoring.

"Look at me! I've made a machine gun!"

[[when an FBI agent heard what appeared to be more than one bullet being fired at a time,]]

it still only fires 1 bullet at a time even if it’s a fully auto- unless it had several barrels all capable of firing at once? I doubt it-

[[the affidavit said. Mr. Lemley later that day told Patrik Jordan Mathews, the 27-year-old Canadian, that he had a gun that could fire more than one round at a time, authorities said.]]

So they are claiming the defendant told them he told soemoen he had a gun with multiple barrels?

[[“Oh oops, it looks like I accidentally made a machine gun,” Mr. Lemley said, according to the affidavit. He also allegedly said that he would stow part of the weapon until the next week in case someone from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives showed up.]]

so he goes out in public advertising to the world his new supposed fully auto gun, then AFTER says h has to now hide it?

This story sounds very fake to me- made up-

So if ICE arrested them, everything would be fine? I've been following this case for months. The Canadian is a legit bad guy.

Sometimes this site makes no sense. Sometimes it's pro law enforcement, sometimes it's Antifa-like in its disdain for cops.

This guy was an illegal immigrant who came to the US to commit violence and illegally converted a rifle to full auto. Yet FReepers are calling him a victim and a patsy. Unreal. I bet if he was MS13 and not a neo-Nazi you'd be CHEERING the FBI.

(I'm not saying "you" as in you personally. I'm talking about the majority of posters here.)
