RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT/AP) - Fearing a repeat of the deadly violence that engulfed Charlottesville more than two years ago, Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam declared a temporary emergency Wednesday banning all weapons, including guns, from Capitol Square ahead of a massive rally planned next week over gun rights.

Virginia law enforcement officials have been criticized for their planning and response to a deadly 2017 white nationalist rally in Charlottesville that involved heavily armed protesters. One woman was killed and several more were injured when a car plowed into a group of counter-protesters.
Northam’s declaration will also ban items like helmets and shields, items that some white nationalists carried in Charlottesville. The ban will stay in effect until Tuesday evening.

I guess the people of Virginia are illiterate. The point of one of the principle authors of the Constitution was to remind government that the people held the power and the guns. The current govenment of Virginia doesn’t want to be reminded.........THAT WON’T END WELL.

The square is only one square block. I imagine a group of thousands surrounding the square lawfully carring their arms, acting in reserve would suffice to keep the peace.

That doesn’t mean agitators won’t show up. They won’t be Antifa but it’s not like that matters much.

Predictions... Some will comply and come to the rally, maybe wearing empty holsters in protest. Many more will come, armed - both concealed and open - and assemble peacefully just outside the declared idiocy zone, perhaps walking peacefully around the public/city sidewalks surrounding the idiocy zone. There will be agitators, bought and paid for by the leftists, who will attempt to stir up trouble. They’ll try to cause fights, arrests, generate on-camera moments that can be spun by a complacent and complicit MSM. These may take the form of false-flag agitators, appearing to be pro 2nd Amendment supporters.
Guessing that includes fists, steel toed boots, pencils, rocks, glass bottles, scarfs and letter openers, etc.
