Without Helms, NC perishes!
As a citizen of Frederick County, I was surprised to see such an offer.
What kind of gun control laws are in West Virginia? What about tax rates? ...and automobile registration? ...personal property taxes?
Given that the West Virginia border is 4 miles away, it is worth a thought to switch.
IIRC we’re both in the Ninth District.
The 8th and 10th would be the places to attack the Dems who obey NOVA.
Can’t find an up to date map of VA’s Senate Districts.
Bet a “go to West Virginia” movement would devastate the Dems though.
Yup.
Many more Virginia counties to follow I hope.
The counties of Virginia and Maryland that are being mistreated by their predominately Democratic legislatures should all start the legal process of joining West Virginia. Leave Virginia and Maryland as disfunctional rump states.
You won’t have to have a front license plate and can use a radar detector. :D
Seriously, those are perfectly good questions to explore.
I would think the western Maryland counties would be a good fit as well. I’d love for any western Maryland FReepers to chime in.
Absolutely. Tennessee is an option for counties in southwestern most Virginia as well. Unfortunatly, both KY and NC have leftists governors although both legislatures are heavily GOP.
Senator Trump? Any relation?? Curious...
Would the city of Winchester go with Frederick Co.?
Please take Fairfax County with you!
Cue the banjos.
(Yes, I know that was GA)
Winchester is an Independent City.
Quite a few of them west of I-95.
I oppose this for the same reason I oppose 20-30 year old male able-bodied “refugees” coming over here. They need to stay and fight their own battles.
Take the offer.
Which is why I pointed that out in light of WV's flirtation with Frederick County (which surrounds Winchester on all sides). Is Winchester city as blue as the DC 'burbs?
ff
I have no idea about Frederick Co VA politics...it has been 7 1/2 years since I’ve even driven through there. My impression at the time was that it seemed like DC exurbs and no too different from its MD namesake county.
Probably still the case, in the county and in Winchester city itself. Winchester native Patsy Cline must be turning in her grave. :-(
ff (who's only been through, not to, Winchester himself maybe 10 times in his 58 years)
