Authorities have warned of an "imminent hazardous eruption" from Taal volcano.
Lava has begun spewing from a volcano in the Philippines, as authorities warned of an imminent hazardous eruption.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said that weak sporadic lava fountaining and hydrovolcanic activity had been observed at the crater of Taal volcano, which is situated on an island in a lake around 45 miles south of the capital Manila.
On Sunday, a giant plume of ash was sent up by the volcano, blanketing nearby areas and leading to all flights in and out of Manila airport to be suspended.
The alert level has been raised to 4, out of a maximum of 5, indicating the possibility of a hazardous eruption within days. Authorities in the surrounding state of Batangas have declared a state of calamity, which signifies major disruption.
Phivolcs is calling for a total evacuation within 14 kilometers (8.7 miles) of Taal volcano's danger zone according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), that amounts to almost 500,000 people.
Lol!
She’s too busy spouting climate crap to get laid.
Her spouting her climate crap makes it highly unlikely that any boy would want to get near her, so sure.
A guy I work with flew his whole family there Sunday.
That looks like an Album cover from the 70s... Peace Out...
It would just spit her back.
future old maid would be my guess.
bttt
But I think you are right about looking at duration. The 1754 eruption lasted 7 months. That could have unpredictable effects like the Icelandic volcano did to Europe.
the human race will be lucky to survive - last time we barely made it - most assume it will be an event taking place in one or two days - but the huge area of such an eruption and the massive amount of magma could well make the event last weeks or months. The ensuing winter could last centuries covering the whole earth in time.
as I said, 4 billion people live in the danger zone with nowhere to hide or run to.

High way to
The
Danger Zone!
1990s movie “Dante’s Peak” was on TV the other day. Lots of warnings, few listened.
That was one funny movie. Oh, wait. It wasn't intened to be a comedy? :)
Taal or Vaal?
I dunno about you but, the one thing about getting old is that you have met a lot of people in the old age.
I come from an area where they have a top geology school and have met a pretty good professor who tends to keep up on this stuff. So..we talk about volcanoes quite a lot.
I can talk about this stuff for DAYS and never get tired of it. Being the dumb ass kid I was, I should have went to geology school, but NO, I had to stay in the woods.
My old man was right.. Run, or the woods will get you.
Depends on if one goes off in the Northern hemisphere or the Southern.
Toba is central. As was the one that went off during the 6th? century. That one is in Central America and blackened the entire earth. I think it was around 536 or around that time. Actually, if I remember right, there is evidence that there was a couple around that time. But those were VEI 6 or 7s.
