Boy Scouts Bankruptcy Strategy Would Pay Victims but Protect Most Assets

The Boy Scouts of America has drawn up a strategy for coping with a wave of sexual-abuse claims through a possible bankruptcy filing while protecting local scouting councils and the billions of dollars in assets they hold, according to people familiar with the matter.

Very well put. I quit as Cubmaster last year but still keep in contact with the very good people that are left with our Pack. They still do not have girls or homosexuals involved by policy. But the numbers have shrunk as the organization lost its shine many years ago.

Other posters are right; National became dependent on big corporate donors who were subject to the Gaystapo's campaigns. Compromises were made to keep the gravy train moving and the organization now stands for nothing.

The good news is that, as you say, scouting is bigger than this organization. Our Trail Life troop is growing quickly. The dads I work with there are enthusiastic, and women don't take leadership roles.

The Scouts used to be a great organization, but it succumbed to liberalism and political correctness and happily allowed people who NEVER should have been involved in scouting to infest its leadership ranks.

I was in the Scouts in the early 1960s. It was a fine organization back then. I didn’t stay with it because of other obligations, but I did enjoy the time I was in it. Back then we did a lot of camp craft, etc., which was why I joined in the first place.

I believe the claims go back to before BSA allowed homosexuals to openly serve as leaders and members. But you can be sure this is about homosexuals preying on adolescent youth. And we will be told it’s not about that at all.

But with or without the bloat from corporate donations or the drying up thereof, BSA’s demise ultimately lies with the ‘leadership’ who failed to take a stand.

Good analysis. My POV is that the root cause of the BSA rot was/is the volunteer BSA National Executive Committee, not Board. The NEC is ~27 officers who govern the volunteer National Executive Board. The NEC is a Who's Who of Fortune 500.

Below is the list of rotten volunteer BSA National Presidents (the chairman of the NEC).

2010–2012 - Rex Tillerson (Exxon-Mobil CEO)
2012–2014 - Wayne M. Perry May 2013 - open homosexual youth were accepted by vote at the national business meeting. Tillerson was still on the NEC serving as the Past President. Perry is Mormon. I suspect he was overwhelmed by the rest of the NEC.
2014–2016 - Robert Gates (former CIA Director and SoD under POTUS #44 BHO) He had previously served as the volunteer president of the National Eagle Scout Asscociation.
2016–2018 - Randall L. Stephenson (AT&T CEO) - Open transexuals were accepted as members by vote of the NEC, not at the annual business meeting.
2018-2020 - Jim Turley (former CEO, Ernst & Young) Girls were accepted as members of Cub Scouts and Boy Scout units.

Tillerson, Stephenson, and Turley were all serving as officers on the NEC in 2013 when the homosexual youth membership ban wall came tumbling down.

In the Long March through the Institutions, you can add corporate boardrooms to the list of institutions corrupted by cultural Marxism.
