RICHMOND, Va. (WHSV) — One of the most controversial gun control bills proposed in the Virginia General Assembly has been killed, while others passed out of committee on Monday morning.
Senate Bill 16, proposed by Sen. Richard Saslaw, would have expanded the definition of "assault firearms" under Virginia law, outlawed their possession, and outlawed the the selling or transfer of any firearm magazine with a capacity for more than 10 rounds of ammunition.
In the Senate Judiciary Committee on Monday morning, as hundreds gathered outside the Virginia Capitol for a gun rights rally, Saslaw requested that his bill be pulled from consideration.
According to media outlets present at the meeting, Committee Democrats unanimously voted to dismiss the bill. Republicans all abstained from voting after arguing that it was too late to dismiss the bill since it had already been docketed...
After the committee voted to strike SB 16 from consideration, votes moved ahead on other proposed gun legislation.
Committee members voted on party lines, 9 to 5, to combine Senate Bills 22 and 69, which both would institute a "one gun a month" law for Virginia limiting citizens to one handgun purchase within any 30-day period, and moved those out of the committee.
Senate Bills 12 and 70, both of which would establish mandatory background checks for any transfer of firearms, including private sales, were combined as well and moved forward out of the committee.
Also on 9-5 party line votes, the committee reported SB 240, establishing red flag laws, out of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

I don’t think they’re feeling the heat that much. I think this is just the bait and switch. They piled on everything they could think of expecting to back off on a few things. Which would then look like some sort of a victory to our side. Which it most certainly is not.
Background checks on Private Sales? I assume they’ll include a group discount for gang bangers. And isn’t it racist? I mean to expect gang members to be smart enough to have picture IDs ready when they purchase their guns?

After many people registered these weapons, the city passed a law that they were now illegal and must be turned in.
I called out the Police dept/city on this underhanded practice and the person I mentioned it to just smiled.

We need to wake up. The leftist’s model in how to destroy the Republic is what has been done to Virginia incrementally: demographics and fraud. This is what will be done to America overall if our side doesn’t stop it. Maybe we can’t.

I think it’s the old Rope a’ Dope, they never planned to push the assault weapons ban, but now by dropping it they can seem “reasonable” and still push through the other gun control bills that they actually wanted.
There is only one “common sense gun law” .... it’s called the Second Amendment.

Don’t be fooled! The real aim of disarmament is NOT to suddenly pass draconian gun control laws and go door to door to confiscate them. They know that would start a revolution where they would lose.
Their intention is to THREATEN to pass those laws to get everyone all riled up and then “back off” and pass only a few “sensible” anti gun laws. The 2A crowd will think they have won but in reality they LOST SOME OF THEIR RIGHTS.
The liberals are in it for the long game where they nibble away your rights a tiny bit at a time until your great grandchildren will be hailed as heroes when they turn in the guns they inherited to be destroyed.
ACCEPT NO NEW GUN LAWS! No matter how “sensible” they seem.
